What is a pretty good cam that is around 200 to 300 dollars
i am gettin xmas list to family..

Image quality
ease of use
size/compactness

i want gooood pictures so i can post good shots of my car on the net, i dont car if it is a lil sizey

for that prioritization, in that price range, I'd reccommend the Fuji S3000. There are some great deals for it now all over the place. I've got one and I love it.
Here's a sample pic from it. (coming in a second)

Here you go.. (and these were taken from quite a distance, and not at the highest resolution; another feature that I like, a lot of zoom for a decent price) Make sure to get them an extra card as well (Ive got a 256 mb card and it holds PLENTY of pictures) (rockon) good luck! [I only can really speak to this because its the only one I really have experience with, but really like it; if you want to go smaller, maybe a little cheaper I also have had/have the Nikon Cool Pix 3200(?) Very good as well.

I'm going to recommend the Canon Powershot A85.

4 megapixel
Sharp lens (as you would expect from Canon)
Easily accessible manual exposure options
About mid-range in ease of use.
Not too big, not to small

Runs between $250 and $300.

Canon Powershot A75.

Or spend a little more and get a G5...

The A75 is the 3-megapixel version of the A85, same features, same body, same lens. It runs for around $200, I would say bite the bullet and spend the extra $70 for the extra megapixel.

The G-series are awesome, I used to have a G2 that I sold a while back. You're not going to get a new one for $300, but if a used camera is OK, definitely look into one of these.

Here's a couple more...The last one was taken with a Nikon Coolpix 2200 (I think you can pick them up for like $150 now...I know its lower in price than you have set, but the 3200 or 4200 or even 4300 could be just right for you.)

I second the Canon Powershot
I have the A60, but those are being replaced by i think the A75

With canon, you can't go wrong
If you want pics, i'll gladly post some if you want
I have TONS!!!

i'm looking for a nice used g3 close to the price range you're talking about, keep an eye out and you might be able to get one. you should be able to get a g2 for that much without too much problem, i like the g3 :)

I have an A60, I love it. They're cheap too, like $170 now.

This probably doesn't work but i can't figure it out at work, no properties bar...just look for any pics I've posted and it's been done with an A60 and 2 Megapixels.

CANON! No contest. The a70, a80 whatever you can afford. Best lenses, and battery life of most camera's I've ever used.

Here's a sample of mine

G5.

now get your car painted like that ... so when there is no sunset it till has that kandy color in it.. that looks sweet....

oo and the picture quality looks pretty good, i think i am gonna get a cannon cause of all the reviews yall are giving them..

that picture was taken with auto settings( typically not the best for really nice pics), no tripod, bad lighting ( sun in wrong spot ), and is not on highest quality. And it still came out ok even with my shakey hands that day. Canon makes good pictures happen easy.

I've got a Coolpix 3200 and any pic of my car posted here was taken with it. My only complaint (which is common among digital camera users) is that it eats batteries like mad. I've tried Nimh, but they suck. I've shot more pics with the fused AA's they give you. I might just have to try the disposable lithiums.

My advice, check out Nikons - they have some of the best optics you'll see. They have a few models that use a rechargeable lithium-ion battery -- that's what my camcorder uses and they're the s***!

Sample pic...here ya go:
