Diffusor removed

no it just sits in a grove in the maf it can be pushed right out. what i did was take a closed end of a wrench and hit it aginst the back of the diffusor and it popped right out.

No s***! I always thought it was just one whole piece...well i'll prolly take mine out and see what happens...i'll update you guys cause i have a relocated maf...which by the way made a big difference in how my car runs...never any hesitation and idles without dipping now...very good and cheap upgrade.

Dude i would be careful with taking that screen out. I once accidently dropped a little rubber grommet inside the hole where my air temp sensor went in the pipe without knowing then started up the car. Later on realizing i lost it and took out the pipe and saw it resting across the screen. It could be a life saver.

umm i wouldent suggest doint it with a relocated maf w/o something to tune it with i.e. dsm afc. because with the maf relocated your allready slipping a little more air by that the maf isnt reading leaning you out a little bit. and now removing this screen is going to slip even more air by. me personally if i was relocated i wouldent do it until u could tune it, but you can try it if u want.

this only helps FA guys or NA too??????

i think its more for the msp's because we see hesitation from the stock msp ecu. it isnt really a power adder it just smooths out out power band a little. it takes away some of the bog we get. me personally i havent noticed any bogging like i did before, but if you do it be sure to reset the ecu before you start the car.

So is this recommended as an alternative to the reflash or is this something that will help even if you are flashed?

i cannot believe this has not been discussed previously... kudos. I imagine it allows maybe a tad more air by, kinda like the maf relocation, but it may not straighten the air path out as intended (less turbulent pre-turbo). not sure if that matters much.

well if its relocated its not going to change preturbo turbulence either way...im still debating whether im going to rip the diffusor out of mine or not...i have to install a shortshifter tomorrow along with changing the oil return line oring so i might take the time to see what happens
