I have a 2010 Hatch with the 2.5 and 6sp MT. Shifting from 1 to 2 is difficult, especially at 5K rpm or over. Unless I make a VERY definate pause at the neutral gate I "beat" the synchronizers, with the sound called "grinding the gears." Of course its the synchos that are suffering.
Going up through the rest of the gears is smooth as silk, no graunching sounds even with rapid shifts.
At first I felt that I just hadn't "learned" the trans/clutch. All cars are different. But, after 10K miles, I don't think its me. I've driven manual trannys for over 50 years, 3 on the tree, 4 or 5 on the floor, front engine rear drive, rear engine rear drive, and front drive, and I've never had troubles like this.
I usually expect and get over 100K on a clutch, and no tranny problems, but I begin to wonder about this Mazda. I sure don't want to redo the synchros at, say, 40K miles.
Any one out there have a similar problem? Any Tech Bulletins on this? I'd hope for some input before I tackle the dealer.
Thanks!
