Did something break?

This is prolly me just being parinoind, but here goes......

I was turning onto the highway going about 15 or so then I hear this clunk about midway through the turn. I look in the rearview mirror and see something shiney bouncing on the pavement. It almost looked like a wrench or something, but I have no idea. I couldn't stop as there were about 20 cars following me.

The cluck came out of the drivers side rear.

I don't know if I ran something over and it kicked up and hit the car for the cluck, or if something may have "fallen out/broke".

The car seemed to drive fine afterwards on the highway, I was doing the whole nascar swerve to see if it felt funny. People probably wondered what the moron is up to.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

99% sure that something was on the road already.... UNLESS you had the car worked on and they forgot to take their tools with them !

How does the car handle now? The only real way to find out is take it to the stealership and explain to them what heppened. They will give it a once over and let you know if all is well.

That actually happens all the time.I used to work at a shop and the techs were always leaving some kind of tool under the hood of a car .Sometimes they come back and sometimes it just falls out onto the road.I always laughed at them.

I leave tools all over on the inside of the engine bay on the fenders and where the hood closes. Oh well

It seems to handle just fine, but I didn't get to try anything hard on the car. After work I will take a few back roads and hit a few good corners to see how she does.

The only thing that it was in the shop for recently was the DP. I watched them do that though, and don't recall any tools being left laying around. Also..that was last friday, so 6 days ago, so any tools should have been gone by now.

Oh well....guess we'll see how it goes. Thanks for all the updates.

Oh...last thing...."the cluck" that the MSP is famous for. What is replaced when you go to the dealership for that, and is it covered by warrenty?

yes it's covered by the waranty

That happened to me and it was the rear crossmember the weld was weak and it just fell off the dealership replaced it and the rear swaybar with no charge

Can you tell me what the rear crossmember is, or where it's located so I can see if that was what fell off?
