Did some shopping today for my Dad's truck...

It sounds great aside from the factory head unit. My Dad is talking about getting another head unit though. Crutchfield still sends catalogs to their address so he was browsing it the other day. We'll see though.

looks trick chris! nice work, clean and functional...bet he loves the new sounds too!(first)

how do you like those ref 8s from Dayton...ive got a set here in boxes for my new install on my new truck! Feedback please!

Now if i could just find a place for my 15 in this truck id be happy (glare)

To tell you the truth, the factory head unit makes it real hard to do an honest comparison between my car. The bass and midbass is pretty muddy but I know that has nothing to do with the speakers. The tweeters are very smooth and sometimes I wonder if they are on. The low 2KHz crossover point is probably throwing my ear off. Normally I can distinguish the woofer and tweeter but in his system I cannot until I crank the volume and the head unit distortion kicks in and makes the tweeters shrill.

I'll have to get Oleg over with his RTA so we can figure out what is going on. But regardless...it sounds amazingly better than stock especially considering it only cost $600 and has no sound deadening material.

nice.. i went with the ren audio tweet and midrange...gonna give those a shot..I figured if i don't like the ref 8s im not out alot of cash (plus i can make some killer bookshelfs). I can allways go back and replace with a set of lotus 8s that my buddy has been "borrowing" from me.

well no spot for 15...ordered 2 more elate 10s...4 10s in the truck...hope i like it.

Wow didn't know JL is going to make thin drivers. Id like to get my hands on em and try em. Also wonder if the price point is going to be cheaper than the Alto Mobiles thin subwoofer. Ive installed the altos...they get down real nice for a 10. Usually not a JL fan..this may change my mind!
