Story goes as this:
I went to the mall yesterday evening with the intention of grabbing some food & scoping out the scenery (since I have a gf, I can look but I can't touch). On the way back, I was driving normally...no hard shifts, no high-revving, no speeding. But, I did have the top down. To no surprise, guys here always want to f**k with me or show off or screw around. Well, apparently someone decided to do it at the wrong time last night. I was coming around a corner (3 lanes) and the guy decides he is going to throttle and drift/slide around the corner. Bad move, as the I was looking at this idiot, he came dangerous close to my car (I could hear the tires breaking loose), he turned the wheel away from my car & must have over compensated, because he ended up rear-ending a parked car (at the end of the corner, start of the straight....the right lane becomes a parking lane). I continued driving in shock, awe & amazement. I pulled over about 1 traffic light down & called my Turkish friend. After briefly speaking with him, he was very insistent that I head straight to my house. In any case, the yata may have unintentionally caused another guy to be an idiot and wreck his car. I hope the guy was wearing his seatbelt...alot of the Turkish do not wear seat belts.
For those wondering why I did not stop. Ponder this:
In a country where you are a foreigner, you do not always have the fair shake. If I had went back to help/inquire when I first stopped, I could have had a mob saying that I caused it etc. Not an easy thing to take part in, esp. when it's just you & there's a language barrier.
Besides that, people that were behind the guy stopped and they pretty much had a better view than I did. And add the fact, that it was a 1-car accident, there was not much I could've done had I even went back. I am just glad there was no one standing on the trunk side of the other car...it would've been ugly.
Point of this...don't show off...because bad things happen.
