Hey Everyone

I looked at all the options for ipod playback on the ms3 and I found that the DICE r2 is the best choice. Does anyone have this version installed on a 07 Mazdaspeed 3 GT with bose and navigation. I just want to make sure this will work with my setup before I order.

Thanks

Yeah I have been all over that thread seeing what people have said. I just want to make sure that having the bose stereo or nav will not affect the playability. I read somewhere that the CX-7 with nav isn't compatible with anything so I wanted to make sure they weren't the same setup. I actually read on the SU website that the neo prolink isn't recommended for the ms3.

Yes the DICE is compatible with both the Bose and Navigation options.

I haven't used any of them, however I've heard from user reviews that the newer versions of the Prolink and DICE are both rather clumsy to use... more so than the older versions which don't display ID3 tag info on the LCD. Are you getting this one for that feature, or are you just looking for ipod integration?

I wanted one that displayed ID3 tags because it would be useful. What do you mean by clumsy? Like it takes some time to switch songs or it doesn't want to work sometimes? What are the benefits to the older versions to the newer versions?

Apparently the newer ones don't always work consitantly and the UI isn't intuitive. I don't know specific differences (in operation) between the new and old ones, rather just that people didn't complain about the olders ones nearly as much. The big difference between the new and old ones (both prolink and DICE) is that they emulate a satellite receiver, and that's how they display ID3 info.

If you're just looking for one without ID3 display and without an additional input I'd recommend the grom. If you want a simple one with an input I'd recommend the audiolink.

im actually selling my neo prolink if anyone is interested. Works great through the satellite input however beware does not work with iPhone even though they said it does...unless i dont know what im doing, but im pretty sure. My ipod nano got crushed at the beach and im not about to buy a new one when my iphone is basically an ipod....so i took it out. PM me if anyone is interested. 100 shipped with original box and paperwork. About a year old and works great.

I decided to go with the DICE so I could display the ID3 tags. If it turns out that it has more problems than it's worth then I will just return it and get integration without ID3. Thanks for all your help icspots.

So how do you like it?

I'm considering one myself...

Don't get the dice with ID3 Tags. Horrible. Go with a non id3 one like grom or audiolink. I have grom and it works great

Had both the Grom AND Audiolink

I originally had an non-ID3 Audiolink and liked it very much. After about a year of use the plug where the ipod cord attaches to the "brain-box" proved to be defective.

I ordered a Grom and it didn't work at all so they sent me another one and that one didn't work eiether!

Since I liked the way the Audiolink sounded I found a guy selling one on ebay--never installed, a Christmas present that didn't "work-out." I installed it in my 3 and it worked great for almost a week and then quit altogether!(bang)

Have a Denison Ice-link in my Mazda 3 now and it's been working great for a couple of years now. My wife has a Neo in her Mazda 6 and it works well but doesn't sound as good as the Denison.

So, I guess the question I have is:

What is the best real-world currently available working option for an '08 Bose-equipped MS3 with no NAV/SAT while using a 7th gen iPod Classic??

Do you have a '08 or '08.5 (was your car made before 01/01/2008?)? If you have a '08.5 then the OEM module is the only option.

If you have a '08 then your options depend on features you want. If you want just ipod integration I recommend the grom. If you want ipod and a 3.5mm input then I suggest the audiolink.

I use GROM iPod adapter for 7 month now and happy with it. There is no ID3 tags displayed, but the rest of the functions works - controlling, etc... It also charges my iPhone which helps a lot.
