DGM vs APC CF Hood

.....Paid $585 shipped when they first came out. You can probably get one for $450 shipped now.

Where can you get it for that cheap? If that's the price, the I'd definately consider looking into buying one. I'm not a big fan of APC either, but I've heard nothing but good things about their hood.

The $585 was thru a local dealer here in Arlington, TX. The $450 someone posted they purchased through the internet, maybe Summit or JCWhitney.

The WW hood I have serious doubts about -- the vent is right over the valve cover and will leave your plug wells and coil packs open to the rain -- BAD IDEA.

I don't think they would put that hood on the EVO if they didn't have some way of preventing that, so they must have kind of solution.

personally I really really like the WW hood, APC i dont know about they make crap for lighting mods but for other stuff I have heard they make decent quality products, this is the first thread I have seen someone complain about their APC hood.

The WW hood has had changes made so no water will get in anywhere it shouldnt, no damnage to the engine will occur.

At the same time the WW and DG hoods that incorporate scoops are expensive. The WW is shipping now for around 750 shipped, the Dg one with the ram air scoop in it was at 1000 before shipping even though I know they lowered it they cant have lowered it that much. For function the DG is better because the ram air scoop is functional and comes with AEM ducting to run the air going in there directly to the air intake filter.

The other hoods I like are the ones that are colored C/F, like orange or blue, they lok nice when matched with the car correctly.

personally, no offense to anyone with the apc hood, but i would want a functional hood. apc has those indentions, but if they dont serve a purpose, i think it looks stupid. like those roof scoops? i dont see how it helps the car. with the apc hoods, they have the indentions, but no vents. at least the WW hood has vents to let the hot air escape, but u do pay a hefty price. get ViS to make some evo style hoods hehe. aiights, well thats my 2 cents on that. peace out - chris

Thats the reason I got the APC hood, to make a change. For it to be noticed that it was changed. Not only because its black on a yellow car but because it looks different.

The WW authorized dealer here likes me. I bought a lot of parts for my last car from him, so he hooked me up on this one. That is if it ever arrives.:)

why cant they make a vented hood like WW or the apc one for the 99, 2000 model ... pisses me off

Yea the WW hood comes with plastic pieces under the vents. Obviously they're not going to sell something that will damage the engine. I believe it sells for $650 at Protege5 Online.

I personally like the WW hood but it is way to expensive just like the DG one. I went to my local speed shop and they said that I can get a fiberimages one for $650 but that still too expensive. I'am thinking of getting a VIS cf hood someone in one of these threads has one it comes with the washer nozzles holes pre-drilled. They have it on a red p5 with black powder coated wheels I was just wondering does anyone know where I can get the VIS hood and for how much? Another hood that I'am interested is in the JSP america CF hood it looks like awsome quality but might be expensive does anyone know how much it is?

VIS or JSP america (scratch)

i dont have hood pins on my APC hood. And as for the washers, it depends on the manufacturer. I didnt drill mine. Some come pre drilled
