Ok i searched the board and i am just wanting to know one thing. I am looking at alot of the CF parts sold by DGM, but i want the hood by APC to get away from the stock design. My question is has anyone seen a p5/mp3/msp with a apc hood and dgm other pieces. I just want to basically know if the design is totally different and doesnt go together or if the weave is close enough to the same look to use different companies products. Although DG has came down on the price of their hood. I really dont like the badge on the hood either. Any comments welcome. Thanks
Michael

I got the APC hood with the DG carbon eyelids. The pattern is the same, but the weave is opposite. Pacman has the Fiber Image hood and the DG eyelids and has the same problem. It doesnt look bad. I'am yet to see a DG hood and eyelids in person to see the difference. SOrry no pics yet.

thanks thats all i needed to know. The opposite pattern wouldnt bother me i dont think. Anything bad about the apc hood so far?
also whered you get it and how much?
Thanks
Michael

I had no problems, but some people hate APC because of their bad bulbs and l.e.d. mufflers but these hoods are U.S. built and I have been extremely pleased with it. Specially since I wanted to avoid the stock look. Protege5Gurly has one too, and loves it. My only problem was with shipping, since the clear rubbed a little with the cardboard and scuffed it. But not noticeable. Paid $585 shipped when they first came out. You can probably get one for $450 shipped now.

well apc = junk in my opinion...its just like i dislike ford because of their whole thing with the firestone tires...one piece of s*** and the company ignores it, why should i purchase their good stuff (ie - mustang cobra)? wingswest.com makes an excellant looking cf hood imo...either that, or take a look at oetuning.com...they make cf hoods in different qualities and even different colors...

also, think of this - whether people like it or not, the import scene is all about names...my injen intake that cost me 246 shipped isnt much of a difference than the ebay intake i got for like 40 bucks, but my injen looks awesome, and its INJEN...you got stuff like ground control, injen, and mazdaspeed, and then you go and add an APC product. if you ever put decals for all your parts on your car, people will wonder where your lapse of judgement was when you bought APC...you have so many better choices...check out wingswest and oetuning first

Pirana, doesnt your hood have the hand print on it from when they were making it? Its not too noticable but its not something that should be there.

thanks for all the opinions, but apc is the only company that makes a hood that actually looks different than a factory hood. The wings west hood isnt for me and its too expensive. I dont like the little vent deal. I have read of the apc hood and seen it in person and i must say it looks really good. I have narrowed it down to 2, and that would be the DG and the APC. DG has reduced price to almost reasonable, but shipping is still high, and you can get the apc from summit for a little over 500 shipped. I dunno i will be looking at Nopi this year when it comes to atlanta, and i will be saving until then, if i see a car with the apc hood there, and i know i will, because protege5gurly will be there and she has it. i will buy one at the show if they have one on hand. but thanks again for all the opinions and replys.

Yes, it does. But my new DG motorsport c/f arent any better. The wing has 3 defects and the dash pad has bubbles on the clear. I was more happy with the purchase of the APC hood than with the purchase of all the DG stuff I just got, including the front lip (cracked 4 places and with casting defects).

And if you noticed, I have not gone cheap in any of my mods. If DG had made a c/f hood with "bump" I would have probably bought it, but they didnt, and nobody else made it. WW is 1 year too late and if I'am not mistaken they are still not shipping. Besides if you get the WW be prepared to clean you engine bay every couple of days. Dont get me wrong, I would like the WW specially if you have a turbo, for heat disipation. Maybe next year when they start shipping. :D

Nah, when a kids car is covered in stickers - it just looks lame. Don't be a label *****. :D

your choice mike...my friend jon has an apc hood for his civic...its bubbling, peeling, and fading along the corners. ill pass because APC are truly Amercian Pieces of Crap

can you paint carbon fiber hoods?i want the ram air hood but need it painted to match the car, the W style with the 2 large slots

sure they can be painted...look at the protege on wings west's website...that is a fully carbon fiber hood

Yep ... APC here ... absolutely love the hood. The quality is VERY good imho. Not a single flaw at all.

If I were interested in a stock look hood ... Fiber Images ... but if you want to be different APC all the way. The WW hood I have serious doubts about -- the vent is right over the valve cover and will leave your plug wells and coil packs open to the rain -- BAD IDEA.

thanks protege5gurly! any pics of the sides and of the underside?
Also i take it you didnt drill for the washer nozzles?

Those are the only 2 good pics I have of the hood. I chose not to drill for the squirters since it gives it a cleaner appearance. The hood will soon be partially painted to blend in with some other things ... keep an eye out for that post.

Considering its a show vehicle and gets washed once a week -- possibly more ... the glass doesnt get much of a chance to get dirty -- and should the need arise, I always have cleaning supplies with me.
