DGM CF Stereo surround installed!

Just some comments. It looks great, however fitment wasnt the best. The bottom corners resist sitting completely flush. One thing i would recommend to DG is putting the adhesive tape along all the edges... that is what i will eventually do. I tried 3m double sided tape, which was basically worthless. By looking at it you cant tell that there is anything wrong but i am kinda wary about how secure it is. But again it looks very nice...great improvement over the stock surround. Although until i get the fixture done i may wait on any more pieces.

good points...my suggestion to everyone doing interior pieces:

1) scrub the area thoughorly first to remove all armor etc which totally ***** up the mounting process.

2) buy a roll of scotch red/gray 5lb double sided tape and line the whole thing. this can be found at walmart for like 3 bucks...its in a red little hanging box and can normally be found in the aisle with the caulking and whatnot.

I will post pics later... i am also installing my header today with custommsp. I am getting the black/grey compund in a minute and i will need to sand the HVAC controls so they dont rub and also the vent area since it catches there too.

you need the double sided tape that's made for exterior mounting and all that. like someone else posted it's a red package made by scotch (?). is gray in color but has red plastic lining until pulled off. works the best out of most of all the double sided tapes.

does the double sided tape cause the CF stereo surround to appear sticking out? pics would be awesome, thanks

that was me :)

wolf - no, it mashes down you cant even tell.

cool...maybe i'll get some when the next gb comes up. matthew, do you know how much it is right now if i get the complete interior set (not including the door sills)? thanks

No pics yet. However everything fit flush. I used the scotch blk/grey compound. However it did require significant sanding to get all the gauges and vents to move freely. I found that to be kinda annoying.. I mean seriously didnt they check whether it would interfere before they shipped it? Obviously not. Although it looks very nice i will be holding off on any further additions for now

I'm glad you are enjoying your c/f guage surround as much as i am. I first started out with 3 peices. Then i went and ordered pretty much everything. I am the next Matthew!(headbang)

Anyway, i don't have the entire guage surround like the one you're talking about, instead, i went with the radio side pieces that many people don't know about or don't have. I wanted the brushed aluminum in the center to show. Covering up everything with c/f was overkill IMO. So, i had to leave something stock.

The radio side pieces as a mold, is molded at A+ grade. However, i am short literally 1mm on each side to cover up the faux c/f. It's not noticable at all because it is literally only 1mm (it cannot be seen from the pictures), but i wish they could have given me a bit more. This also goes for the glove box overlay.

Anyway, without further due, this is my contribution.

where did you get them from?

I agree with you Limited Edition, covering everything in CF is too much. I am trying to find the side CF inserts, but they are not on DG's website. Where did you get them from? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

oh, those are just the side thingamabobbers...i thought you got the whole center console cover in CF.

you can get just the side pieces. IIRC you were the winner of my raffle for those free side pieces werent you mindfield?

YUP and i love em. One got a tiny crack when I had to remove it to paint the centre piece (the back was fully lined with the 3m stuff) but so much nicer looking than the fake crap.

yea they are. i like the look of CF, i dunno why. and if you have other CF in your car, its almost a must to cover up the bulls*** CF or else it looks stupid. alll the real s*** and then you have some fake s***.

whoever said everything in CF is bad looking is wrong, my car looks sick inside :)

My plastic surround had some loss of luster and scratches so i really needed to cover it up fully. I love how the light catches the clear coat and the cf. I am gonna replace the shifter cover next cause next to this piece the silver cover looks crappy and out of place. I will post pics at some point soon.
