DGM C/F engine covers are shipping, or so I was told. I just talked to their customer service (I think that girl that aswers is really cute ;) ) and she said they are shipping 4 of them out today and one of them is MINE. WOHOO, can't wait to put it on and see what it looks like.

do those fit on the p5? i thought i read somewhere u have to do some mods to make it fit? maybe u can take some pics after u get it on?

they are supposed to fit on any protege (2.0l at least) because they are including special brackets to put it on. i'll try to snap some pics.

anyone knows the price of the cover that the mp3 comes with, but not the mp5? looks like the dgm cf one, but plastic. if anyone could help, thatll be great, thanks - chris

Just got my carbon fiber engine cover from dgm in the mail 5 minutes ago. will try to install ASAP.

the box includes:
cover
2 brackets (different design)
6 bolts (4 bigger and 2 smaller)
4 DG Motorsports stickers (2- 8.25" and 2 -5.5")
NO instructions.

I don't know if it was an oversight or what but there was no instructions on how to install it. The carbon fiber looks awesome but there is a few white specks/dots/dust that is visible. Also the underside is not sealed in any way (is it supposed to be?) so if you rub it with your hand there is some black material/dust that get left on your fingers.

If you guys want to know anything else, let me know and i'll try to answer your questions.

INSTALLATION: HOW-TO

I don't have a digital camera :( so no pictures yet but i'll try to snap off a few on friday with my brother's camera on friday.

Since no instructions came with the cover  it took me a while to figure out where to install the brackets. Then I attached the brackets to the cover and this way was able to see where they go. The brackets are different. The more intricate one goes closer to the driver side of the car and the simpler one with uneven arms goes on the passenger side of the engine. The driver side one attaches to the bolts that hold the head down, look at the bolt right under the oil cap and it would be the bolt to the left of that one and the bolt that is in the back of the engine. The back bolt is harder to get to and even harder to tighten back down. Surprisingly though the bolts were barely tightened. one light twist and they were off the head. When you bolt the brackets down, remember that the arms that extend from the brackets (where the clips are) are gonna be looking towards the driver side otherwise the cables would get in the way of the bracket.

The passenger side bracket attaches to the post on the head where a big fat black cable is attached to. This is the cable just left of the timing chain. Lightly pull straight up and the plastics things that hold the cable down will release. Attach the other bracket to the two posts with the two smaller bolts supplied. The longer arm on the bracket is going to be closer to the back of the engine and again the arms must extend right of the bracket (towards the driver side of the car). Bolt everything down and bolt down the cover to the holes in the arms of the brackets. You are done :D
Hopefully this helps when you guys install yours.

The nuts they sent me are to small to hold down the cover also want chrome ones so I will go to home depot

i put my dg cover on today and it was soooooo simple. on the mazdaspeed all you do is take the four nuts off switch the rubber grommets and put the nuts back on took like 5 min

you're lucky man, your car came with the stock one and a different intake manifold.
do you guys have any concern of the engine/engine bay overheating due to the cover? i know msp and mp3 came with one stock but those had slots for the air to circulate, the C/F one doesn't.

i really dont think it will be a problem.... i also had dg go a head and ship the carbon fiber mirrors and im gonn call the tommorrow and see if i can buy the dash kit piece by piece cause all i really want is the console and dash cover

Hey Boosted, ... let me know what else comes in the dash kit, I may be interested in purchasing whatever you don't use.

s*** looks good on. It will not over heat the motor. heh does the fly'n M come off the msp engine cover. Thats all that is missing on mine. Cannot wait to get my lip and grill back from the paint shop.
To get it painted, clear coated and baked. 125 bucks. Not bad and they do an excellent job. SUBWAY in Odenton, MD
