does anyone have this hood? I just talked with a guy from DG and its on sale for $895. Is this a good buy?

I love/want the hood. I believe the site say something like 6.6hp to the wheels with the hood. Probably high, but still helpful.

how do you get a dyno gain with just the hood? as far as i know there is no actual ram air to it, its just a vent.

i thought that it came with special ducting that you lead to your airbox or filter, therefore directing cold air to the intake

i believe it has ducting also for a true ram air.

i think it looks cool, i would just paint it blue.

It comes with ducting to the intake manifold. Thus the hp increase. Not sure how they dynoed that but the increase is on their website.

Also the weight difference will make a slight difference. Not as much as cleaning out your trunk though (if it's anything like mine) :)

you can't see any hp gains from a ram air kit on a dyno anyway. Maybe like 1 hp but nothing noticable. And the weight of the hood will do nothing on the dyno either. It's still a sweet hood and if i could afford it it would be on mine.

How's this supposed to work? I can't imagine this is going to result in much cooler air once its compressed and through the intercoooler.

A better intercooler seems as though it would have a much larger impact, but less bling.

Its for NA proteges only, a scope would bring down the tempurature for boosted peeps too. But the piping isn't for MSP'ers.

They closed the hood, and with one of those big fans blew air into it while it was on the Dyno. I was there and yes it did gain 6.6 over stock. Ill see if i can find the Dyno sheet. BTW it was done on a P5.

did they dyno it on the same day they did the stock runs? and they did the dyno with the stock airbox right?
