could someone post a pic if they got a good fit of the spots where they put tape or screws at...........i seen previous pics, but this is a seperate batch of lips.

Directly under the center strip I used some sandpaper to "scuff" the paint on the lower-center part of the grill. This allows the double-sided tape to stick without any problems. Double-sided tape anywhere else is a waste of time in my experience. I didn't have any luck with the above mentioned scuffing or heat gun on any of the other surfaces.



As you can see...other than the use of washers on the back (pics I posted previously), fitment is pretty good. I used the stock holes in the bumper for the screws. Then, I also added an expansion plug (the big one from the front grill that goes into the cross-member) and drilled a hole through the lip and the fender-liner. Inserted the plug and viola!!. This lip is solid and won't be going anywhere soon.

I can take pics of the plugs later this evening and post em.

on a side note, it was kinda disappointing to be told the lip needed body work done to it in order to not have a plethora of pits in the paint, but its doesnt look so bad from more than a foot away, and no one is really looking that close...except me (lol2)

What kind of work? I can't imagine them needing anything besides a quick sand. The finish of the urathane is much better than a lot of fiberlgass out there.

It prolly has something to do with the goo all over the back of the lip. Maybe there is some on the front, but all I know is there are a lot of pits where none of the paint(primer, base, or clear coat) would stick to the urethane...and there are a LOT of rough spots in the shape of the lip that come out once its painted(shrug) oh well, at least its a good 5 footer...

There was some "fish-eyeing" that occured during painting of my lip too. Just one of those things, I'm uncertain what the cause was though. I was surprised as well considering how smooth the surface of the urethane looked. It can be seen on the underside of my lip.

They body-shop was able to smooth everything out on all the visible edges (front and sides)...the bottom won't be seen, so no biggie. I plan on putting some skid tape under the bottom of the lip just in case I whack a parking block.

don't worry anything you paint or attach under the lip you'll just grind off. i know i do every weekend.

(werd) Ive already got a few nie scraped from my driveway, but its no biggie...its so low you cant se it unless you get down on the ground...

i have yet to scrape. im going to try to take my lip off for the winter (if i can get it off). when i do, i might decide to trim it and then repaint it. sucks, but whatelse am i going to do besides continue bitching about it (dunno)

A stock Mazdaspeed stance has reasonable ground clearance with the DG lip....

Unless you're slammed (which messes up your car anyway) it should be fine with any lowering. You just have to be careful, a trade off to looking/performing well. :-D

I took it off last night to prep it for paint.... A heat gun and about 20 mins make it fit like a glove. Very little prep work needed actually, a light scuff and that was it.

I get it back from the painter tonight along with some headlight eyelids... I'll post pics sometime this weekend.
