Hey everyone,

Tunersteve and I had an idea for a Mazda meet somewhere between Chicago and Detroit. I understand that there is quite a Mazda crowd in the Chicago area which might be interested in this as well. Tunersteve mentioned the possibility of basing it around a NAIAS in either Detroit or Chicago also.

I'm using this thread to gauge interest and would love to hear anyone's input on the idea. Please let me know if you'd be up for it, know of a good location/town to meet up in. Who knows? Maybe this could be the start of something we do a couple of times a year!

Thank you,

Yes, there are a lot of possibilities for this meet. Anywhere between Detroit and Chicago would work, and also somewhere slightly south. We could try to find a central location and plan around there.

Please post here with suggestions and we can move forward with ideas and dates.

I'm on my mobile so I'm not sure when those shows happen. I was thinking of the weekend immediately following Thanksgiving.

The auto shows wouldn't be until Jan or Feb. Just throwing out ideas. Once we get enough interest, we can vote and pick one place based on that.

depending on when and where, a couple of ohio guys would go. me included

Those guys who keep posting pending location, please suggest something so that we can get an idea of travel.

Ft. Wayne, IN?

160mi from detroit

id would come out, i wouldnt suggest anything around auto show time cause at that point is colder out and a outdoor meet wouldnt be as much fun

A Mazda meet during NAIAS? Let's keep in mind that NAIAS is usually during January, the most depressing, god-awful cold month in the metro Detroit area. The last thing anyone will want to do is have a car-related meet in the freezing cold, and there's no where to park a zillion cars.

If we do a midwest meet, I vote for Chicago burbs or Fort Wayne IN during the spring months.

How bout lake Geneva. and make a weekend out of it!!
Either way I'd be down for anything after sept. The more North we go from Chicago in october the colder it's going to get tho.
I'm sure a good bunch of MazdaTeam could make something closer.

Ann Arbor?..

Slow speed limits and tons of one-way roads, everyone would get lost in a heartbeat.

No where in MI is going to be very glorious unless we have it in Dearborn at the Hyatt and tour all the Ford/GM facilities for fun. Greenfield Village, Belle Isle, that kind of stuff.

I like the Fort Wayne idea because it allows for some of the IN guys to come along as well.. but then you enter the proverbial black whole that is "things to do in Indiana".

So... I got to thinking... I wonder if we could rent some broken ass parking lot out there and hold and autocross? Anyone interested in this? It would cost a few bucks, but I'd be more than up for it.

I like the autocross idea

P.S. Ann Arbor is a ***** (nuts)
