Im looking for some information on destroking a speed

has this been done yet, is it even possible and what crank/rod/piston combo has been used if so?

I had thought about destroking a short block as a project and putting some regrinds in the head to get another 1500 rpms out of it, I know I would loose some lowend torque but Im ok with that

you could probably swap in an MX5 2.0 crank to de-stroke the MS3 engine, but the loss in torque would probably be less than thrilling. i would imagine you could get stronger rods and forged pistons for the 2.3 and boost the crap out of the engine to get all the power you think you need.

Its is possable to do destroke or stroke any engine. there are companies that can modify the stock crank (Marine Crankshaft) and JE/Carrillo can make custom pistons/rods. you better know what you are doing though to do something like this. There is alot involved in changing the stroke of a engine.

ok good info, thanks guys

I was just looking for some basic info to see if this was something others have done easily with factory mazda components, Im not wanting wanting to get that involved with a complicated build and having to deal with obscure C/R's not too interested
