Hey I have a 08 Speed n I hav a considerate amount of mods. buh I want moreeee lol I have placed my mods rite. n had a great respons from each. My last interesting mod was the SU motormount. which helped alot to control torque steer n wheel hop. my mod list below. an now I'm ready to open it up a bit. with a downpipe. custom built by A&L in Miami Fl. Great shop. 3052541985 My dilema is should I delete 2 resonators or keep 1, my friend mentiod a "raspy" sound buh I drive no Honda. and plus wouldn't having 1 muffler help control sound?. if u think it's a good idea not being able to afford the cbe yet. All advice and opinions apprecited, Thanks

It sounds like maybe you're confusing mufflers with resonators. I think a lot of people will tell you to delete both, but you could always do one at a time. Personally, I would do that.

Well i understand the muffler is the last exhuast collection part. And the resonators are the 2 pieces between the cat and the muffler. So i will be removing the 2 resnators and the cat, due to the catless downpipe install. With the muffler, will it still control sound properly, and not leave me with a raspy, or awkward sound. Thanks.

If you don't want to adjust sound any more than you have to, don't remove the resonators. Check Youtube for 'Mazdaspeed 3 resonator" and you'll find plenty of videos where people have removed one or both of them.

Drive it a while with the catless downpipe before you mess with the CBE part of the system by deleting resos.

I think you will find that it is much louder with just the catless dp/rp and that there will be a lot of drone at 2500 rpm.

I love my catless DP/RP which connects into a stock CBE, but could not live with the droning and ended up putting a third reso into the system in the middle of the RP.

BTW: although unsolicited and by way of apology if this is offensive, but if you think you are not having problems running VTA, you are very mistaken. You just think you are not having problems. Your engine needs to run recirc and will really need to run recirc after you install the catless DP. You are losing power, running pig rich at all the wrong times, and contributing to fuel dilution of your oil, IMHO. No one who really wants to build power will run VTA on these engines. Your MAF is sending fuel to the cylinders that is supposed to be matched with oxygen that is not going into the cylinder. That oxyben is getting farted out into the atmosphere for entertainment purposes, rather than being used to match expected AFR and create power. (sorry for being blunt).
