Denver Performance Shops

Anyone know a reputable one?

I'm Ready to begin the modding on my MS6 starting with mounts and a short shifter this summer. The warranty is completely up one year from May. (but before I start anything I'll call my service guy for his "blessing") (drive)

Eventually I'd like to complete most all the mods in the "$1500" package that tunersteve shows here http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123733209

Has anyone had some positive experience with a performance shop in the Denver area that could recommend one? Preferably a shop that specializes in Mazdas...

The reason I ask is because although I MAY be able to install most of the parts, I'm paranoid I'll **** my baby up and royally be screwed.

Thanks!

Capri, I wouldn't even waste the extra money on a shop. Most of those mods are extremely straightforward, and if you've got a simple mechanic's toolset, you can complete these yourself. To install all those parts would probably cost you well over $1000 in labor alone.

Right...I suppose it would be fine for the SRI install, TP install and sway bars install...but the mounts have me kinda uneasy. I don't think I have the skill to put my engine up on a jack and line everything up properly.

Same thing with the shifter...I read the instructions on the website and there seems to be a particularly tedious part involving a small plastic pin....

I've done both myself, and they're not as scary as they seem.

The motor mount is straightforward, just use a jack and line it up, it slides in pretty freely (unless you get the AWR, then you have to bend a prong out of the way, nothing major).

The shifter can be tricky, but the pin is nothing to worry about. Take your time, cover the surrounding areas, and have a friend and a printout of the how-tos and you shouldn't have trouble.

Hell, worst case, hit me up on AIM and I'll walk ya through it.

Thanks!

Yea, I think What I'll do is get the parts when I'm ready. Print instructions/threads with tips. And get under it with my buddy that has 1/2 a brain also (we would then equal a whole brain). Then do work.

Worst case is, I screw it up and stop before it goes bad and restart when I figure out whats up.

Thanks!

Oh, one more thing...is a new tmic just a matter of removing the old one and slapping the new one on?

...but thats down the road for sure!

Yes, the TMIC is a really easy swap. 10 minutes and you're done. Took my stock one off the other weekend to swap spark plugs, easy as pie. 3 12mm bolts and a Philips screwdriver and you're good.

Check out the local mazda board...
coloradomazdaclub.com There are a few ms6 owners there who I am sure would be willing to help you out.

One more thing!

What about Downpipe and Catback installations? I think the DP is more difficult, correct?

Thanks!

Ok so...

I decided to order the CPE mount and do it myself with my buddy and some Coors within the next week or so as I have some time off then.

After inspecting the short shifter instructions MANY times over today I decided I wasnt quite comfortable using a power drill on the shifter midway thru the install...so thats on hold, for now.

Hopefully when it comes time for a DP, exhaust, and springs or whatever I'll find a place I'm comfortable with that hopefully specializes in Mazda...

Seems to me there are more Subi and Audi shops around here than gas stations...(uhm)

Anywho, sorry for the novel!

Do Work.
