so the other day i take my car to mazda because it seems to turn itself off rolling down the highway. After giggling the battery cables it turns back on. i take it in and they tell me its a bad maf (maf???? how is this possible) so i say ok and get it back. the next day im driving it happens agian so i take it back and am told it is the ground wire. Once agian i get it back and it does it agian so today i drop it off and was told its the main relay. So the parts througher at the dealership puts one in. I get a call this afternoon that the relay was not the issue and they are looking into it. Three hours later i get a call that they dont know what it is but they are going to put in a new fuse box and main wiring harness... To beat it all i was never offered a loaner and i have to wait till friday to get an update.

More of a vent then anything but feel free to comment.

Dealers don't hire technicians anymore. If computer can't tell 'em what's wrong, they're lost. Hope the battery cables enjoyed being giggled. :D

there is a is 'discussion' in another thread about capital mazda in s.fl voiding a warranty due to speeding tickets and timecards....it's getting good...you should read up on it...

It's not capital mazda, it's classic mazda in orlando.

Take your car back and go to Bob King Mazda in Winston-Salem. They have done great work for me. They are really professional and take the customer seriously. All you have to do is be very specific about your problem, and they'll make sure to do it right the first time.

I was going to buy mine from Capital, but after some research i found out what douchebags they are. People rated their service dept as one of the worst in NC, and Bob King as one of the best, but you know that already.

Take it to Bob King and talk to Tommy, tell them about capital and they'll treat you extra-special. They love hearing T.talk about other service depts.

They'll also give you a great loaner, last time they gave me a brand new 6; clean and smooth.

maybe that's just a mazda thing? But I know a lot of technicians that work at dealerships. They are all well trained, but they also work for honda, and to get honda certified is a long process, it can take several years, a buddy is going through it now.

Maybe, but I suspect not. I've had Dodge techs tell me my Ram has only eight spark plugs. I've had Chrysler service writers tell me they have no idea why a tech would have the trunk open while replacing the brake pedal assembly (the battery's in the trunk). Some evidence is even on this forum of Mazda service managers not knowing what weight oil goes in the Speed.

I'm sure that Ford owners, Chevy owners, BMW owners, etc., etc. can relate tales of completely moronic claims/statements/beliefs expressed by "expert" technicians.

OK, rant over.
