'02 MP5
Hi everyone, im new to the forums. I just recently purchased a silver 2002 MP5 5spd and on a follow up trip to the dealer to finalize the sale. I had the opportunity to test drive an RX-8, for all those who have yet to drive one and simply fantasize about it, i suggest going to a dealer and finding a way to drive one. Once i graduate from college im going to trade in the MP5 and buy a new 8, i figure thats a good transition from my first four cars, im 19, ive been lurking on this site for a while now and i just wanted to say hello...and drive an 8 NOW!!

hehe, I just traded in my '04 RX-8 for an '02 P5. The 8 is a VERY fun car, but it's very hard to live with.

I may have been happier with it if Mazda hadn't consistently lied about the car. They overstated the HP, overstated the gas mileage (and still do), and didn't disclose that it consumes oil. The oil consumption is by design, but the average consumer has been conditioned to think that oil consumption means there is something wrong with it (although anybody that's done more than cursory research knows better). These things (and others) caused it to dump resale value quicker than any car I've ever owned. Mine lost about 14K in value in the first year.

Put it this way, I lost more on the 8 in a little over a year than I paid for my P5.
