i just got my car flashed today. what a difference it makes. i went to toms river mazda in nj. the service manager said that they just got this new calibration disc the other day. he said it was the "M" calibraton, the newest one. He also told me that some msp's had problems with stalling due to a hole that was supposed to be punched on a hose on the wastegate, that wasn't punched all the way through. just wanted to share some info. seemed like a good dealership to get serviced at. they have 2 mazdaspeed certified techs there. just passin on some info...let me know if im outta date here.

if there was a hole on the wastegate actuator line, that probably wouldn't be good...not sure if i'm understanding you correctly...

there was supposed to be a hole. the hole wasnt punch through correctly and the piece that was supposed to come out didn't. it just stayed in the flapping around or. he said it made the car stall. i haven't experinced it.

:D
i would NOT go to that dealer if they were putting holes in people's wastegate lines :)

a hole in the wastegate line sounds like a really bad idea... really really bad.

haha exactly what I was thinking. "The car feels great! *BOOM*".

Anyway, I'm sure they didn't mean to say you're supposed to punch holes in the wastegate line.

the re-calibration of the WDS would come on a disk......however the actual re-flash program comes over the internet, and as far as I know there hasn't been another one in awhile......maybe I'll check tommorow.

Yup a leak or hole in your wastegate line will make your MSP go boom and you'll probally be eating rods...might want to clear that up before you let them do anything. Maybe he didnt explain it good enough. If thats the case you might as well take the wastegate line off...instant power! (dont try that) Yea it will feel nice though. MAke sure to get a 0-35 psi boost gauge and watch that baby boost!

Whats a "M" calibration...just curious, dont speak dealer.

Sounds like a cool guy though...I wish my service guy was that approachable.

I think He is speaking of a hole in the waste gate plate itself internal to the turbo. That must be what he is speaking of.

i don't like the mazda dealer on 37 i got to the one on burnt tavern rd in brick, much better and they don't care if i mod my car. they just wanna see how it handles more power. thats a really good dealership for servicing, no questions or complaints they just do what you say as long as its needed. most of the time they take your word for it.

speaking of flash, anybody heard that rumour a while back regarding a new flash coming out in June? was that BS or for real?

M calibration?

m calibration is the same flash listed in the guide on this site so it's nothing new. i didnt know what the dealer was talking about either with that wastegate hose. what he told me, i posted. he only said that there was supposed to be a hole in this hose but it was punched all the way through, meaning there was a little flap of rubber that was there that isnt supposed to be there. i'm clueless, which is why i come here. i trust the more knowledgeable people on this site more than a dealership.

The stock wastegate line is the shittiest hose ever. Mine didnt crack when i put a boost on it, but it was cracking closer to the turbo. In fact, when i pulled it off to replace it today, it was so brittle it literally crumbled in my hands.
So if you havent done that yet, definately go out get some new vacuum hose.

there is a letter that every dealership got regarding MSP and a cut or a replaced wastegate line.

cut or replaced wastegate line = boost controller 99.5% of the time.
with a cut or repplaced wastegate line good luck getting worranty work....

it sux, i know, but it's true

I had mine zipped tied on there because the glue was coming loose, then a few month later I replaced it, and the dealer was fine with that. I've had warranty work done after they saw my replaced wastegate line...but I'm sure some dealers aren't as cool...
