Dealer didn't fix problem?

:
2014 CX-5 GS AWD
Had moms CX-5 in for routine maintenance at 48,000kms. I had the complaint that the mirror on the drivers side vibrated/shook badly at highway speeds. They confirmed it and put on a whole new drivers side mirror, heating element and motor. On my way home, it was exactly the same. I gave it a month, to let the glue set or something, but it's still shaking just as bad. I know the tech who replaced it, is an apprentice and isn't very experienced, but he still does good work, so I don't think it was his fault. Is it normal for mirror shaking? The passenger side is as solid as a rock.

Mine shakes, too. I'd take it back as many times as you have to to get it fixed, if it bothers you. Me? I haven't thought about it in forever until I saw your post. I don't use my mirrors much, though. I visually confirm. My 370Z required mirror use for some angles, but the CX-5, comparatively, is a clear bubble.

Also had this problem on a new 2013. Shake so severe it was sometimes difficult to tell what I was seeing. On first service the mirror assembly was tightened. No difference. Second attempt was a new mirror assembly. No difference. Third attempt was a new mirror assembly and a metal brace fitted internally to the driver's door (part of a TSB). This reduced the problem to having to look for the shaking to see it. Good enough for me.

I had the TSB done on my driver's door mirror. It was the one where they add the brace inside the door and remove the mirror glass and do something inside. It reduces the shake quite a bit but it still shifts a bit over about 80 km/hr - but way better than it was before. You should ask if the TSB is applicable to your year/vin and get them to do it if its covered.
