Look under the hood and according to the directions there is a sticker that goes on the under side to indicate it has been updated with the new hardware.

I have an appt this Sat AM for both my friend and I to have ours updated. I called to be sure they had the stuff before I got the letter so I can beat the crowd and get this fixed ASAP.

Read the general topic thread there is a sticky that tells all about the directions and one step is this sticker under the hood and that all cars are to be updated at the port before making it to the dealer.

I went ahead and called my dealer and they weren't aware of anything at first. They took my vin and sure enough it came up with a recall on the mount, funny thing is they had the part in stock! Curious. Did they just get a shipment in of the revised parts or is it the same part. I will look into this once I get there. I have an appointment for next thurs.

yea i think they are going to inspect all speed3's my dealer isnt allowed to sell any of them till they are all inspected..and my mount was also changed while i had it in at mazda, they said they recieved a recall notice

That's the exact thing that happened to me. I asked him once if it indeed was the new mount and he said yes, though how sure they are....
I guess if my engine still falls out later I'll know (hmm)

Got an appt to bring my Speed3 into the dealer first thing tomorrow am. Will report back what they find...

Just got back from the dealer. They only replaced the bolt, no mounts. Talked to the lead tech at Werner and they have yet to replace a mount on the Speed3's he's seen so far.

Any idea why they are replacing the mount bracket on some vehicles and not on others?

I am unsure why. Anyone know why the mount would be replaced on some cars and not others?

Supposedly some of the mounts can be damaged (but don't fail) from the faulty bolt. If the mount is not damaged, then it's fine to leave in.

took mine in and the service manager was familiar with the prob. told him i wanted mount and bolt replaced. after inspection he informed me that the mounts are only to be replaced if the bolt was loose and mounts had any sign of wear. new 10 bolt placed and tightened to new, much higher torque.

you know... this would have been nice to know last week when i turned my ms3 in for a weird ticking sound under accel. the told me it was rust on the axels. and that they cleaned it up and it was all good... because about 2 am last night i was out in B.F.E. and i got the weirdest sound ever to come from my car while driving...... it was the sound of my motor falling out and my CV shaft ripping apart from the inner boot. i was doing about 65... with ditches on both sides... good thing i didn't loose control i guess. but ill have to wait till tomarrow and see what they have to say about that.. but then again mazda says they only pay for 14 days of a rental car... my motor crashed into my front end pretty bad... it might be there for a while

Motor/Trans mount

This has been a problem and I have read it on many other threads. Mazda has now officially issued a recall on the "number 4 motor mount" issue. One guy actually has his tranny "drop" and cause all kinds of trouble w/axles etc.

As Mazda says this happens when "only sudden/rapid acceleration is repeatedly performed” Hello , we bought MS3 didn't we..I for one accelerate hard all the time ;-)
