Day time running lights

Just bought a new Speed6 this week, love the car. I currently live in U.S. but am Canadian. I was dissappointed this morning to realize that my new car doesn't have daytime running lights. Knowing that the Canadian cars must have them, can anyone tell me what would be involved to add daytime running lights to a U.s. car? If anyone has imported one into Canada I would expect that a conversion was necessary.

Love the car, my wife and daughter are out for their first unsupervised drive.

yeah, if you're going to import back to canada, you'll have to get an out of province inspection done and you will have to have the DRL's installed - all within 45 days of crossing the border if i'm not mistaken. the module might already be installed on the car and just need to be 'turned on' so to speak, or you may need to pick it up and have it installed, i don't know.

the car will also have to meet all federal AND provincial safety standards so make sure you check both out because they can be different. if you haven't already done so, i highly recommend calling the Registrar of Imported Vehicles and talking to someone about what you will need to know/have done to the car to legally import it into canada (this is federal only); once you've done that, contact the traffic safety department of whatever province you're going to be moving to and find out what their regulations are. you will also need to notify the EXACT border crossing where you plan to go through and find out what information they need in order to import your car (this is the US and the Canadian border agents at that location). i do know that the US location requires certain paperwork be sent to them 72 hours in advance of you crossing; if you don't give them the advanced notice they WILL hold your car for 72 hours to verify the paperwork.

as long as you check into things, and double check to make sure you're getting the right information, it's not a difficult process - just do your homework.

try to get the day time running lights "turned on" while still in the states. If all canadian dealers are like mine, as soon as you mention US vehicle and day time running lights they dont want to touch it.
The Modual is pretty easy to insall though.

when you ll get to canada, get to any canadian tire store, buy the relay,35$and follow the instruction sheet, its about an hour job, really not hard to install!

Yep - Canadian Tire has a pretty cheap kit for that.
And any dealer will tell you it costs and exorbitant amount of money.
Registrar of imported vehicles is also online and you can find that info.
