Dave's audio install & sound deadning

Bump and resurrected from the dead!!! I'm posting this now to get my ass in gear and to ensure that I keep this moving.

I'm changing things up a little. I'm taking out the Polk components and replacing with DLS Reference R6A components and DLS RA40 amp. I've already purchased and received these.

I'm going to finally complete the false floor idea I've had for 2 years now.

Before installation I have to properly complete the doors as mentioned by FoxPro5 back in post #36. I realize that properly finishing the doors is very important. I'm ordering Second Skin http://www.secondskinaudio.com/ overkill product.

I've spent alot time here http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/diyma-build-logs/ and have become consumed with the idea of building a better quality sound. I'm very tempted build kick pods/panels to house the 6 1/2" and to add 3" or 4" full range as well.
See here for notes on this. It's a very interesting read. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/member-product-reviews/41582-rs100-tg9-tc9-l3-830986-review.html If any of you guys have any comments on adding these I would appreciate your feedback.

Wish me luck and check back later for progress!!!

Doing good man. Busy as hell but you should know all about that having worked in the conveyor business too. July to late September is crazy busy.

Update!

Just ordered a set of these ---> http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=295-378
(also ordered some closed cell foam from Parts Express)

Also ordered this bad boy ---> https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

And a little of this ---> https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

With the help of Chris (Chuyler) I've decided to go with a 3-way active front stage. The edead is to close the holes in the door (see post #36 and pictures in post #2 for referencing the holes) and the closed cell foam is for the behind the 6 1/2" speakers inside the door.

This should all arrive next Thursday (9/9) and I hope to get some work done next Saturday.

Been a rough 1.5 yrs for us. We laid off a ton of people. Took a pay cut, an hours cut......finally this year turned around and I am soooo busy now I don't know what to do. Been 60+ hour weeks for months.......I'll take it though, I lost a lot of money the last 2 yrs......

Slowest rebuild EVAAARRRR!!!!!!

Typical for a stereo build, this has taken forever to develop. Nevertheless, I do have an update. I will soon be sound deadened (is that a word?) to the max. I just placed an order for 3 more rolls of RAAM Audio sound deadener (to finish the doors and a second full floor covering ), 54 sq ft RAAM Audio Ensolite closed cell foam for all 4 doors and last but not least Luxury Liner Pro Pads to completely finish the floors. See website links below for more information.

I went way overboard but my goal is to seal up the car like a coffin. I'm almost embarrassed to say the the deadener alone cost over $400 (not to mention the deadener I already have down from the previous build) but hey, it's my car and my money damnit, I'll do what I want!!! Ha!

On top of the deadner I ordered Kicker 0/1 gauge wire, Street Wires distribution block, 20 ft. Kicker 12 ga wire, 40 ft black and red techflex and various shrink wrap to do wire it up right.

I've scheduled 3-4 days off in January for the rebuild and I'm very excited. Stay tuned folks!

Where did you get the techflex from? The stuff I got from a local electronics store is stupid expensive.

how is ur roadnoise now? and noticable difference? i am hopping u havent driven any.,.,lol

Looks good, where are you going to put the 4" reference speakers? Doors or make some kick panels? I did the same with the mat. I am currently working on the wiring and the full range of speakers. I think I am going to do two of the fiberglass built-ins for the 10" subs.

Rattle Trap Mat

Here are a couple of picts of mine Dave. Completely understand about time consuming. This was before I got the speakers installed too. Just not enough time to finish it.

You have done a great job, I can not wait to see what it looks like when you get done.

any update on this. I really want to see how it came out?

I have an update. Motor went down, it think it's a bent valve or valve spring. I don't have the time or energy to try and fix it due to work and kids. This project has come to an end. I'm in the process of selling the car.

Sad....very sad.:'(
