Got the fiberglass laid in....5 layers so far. I stopped at 5 layers b/c of some things that came up. I decided that I can add more layers after it dried if it didn't feel strong enough. It dried nicely. It was a little cold in the garage so it took longer than normal to dry, about 5 1/2 hours. The tempature in the garage is about 60 degrees. Only problem....I can't get the damn thing out! I will have to get back at it tomorrow. I just spent about 30 minutes tugging and pulling.......no luck. I will give it another go tomorrow. I will post pics and update then.

when i was pulling my f/g mold out it was a pain, i was convinced i was going to break it with how hard i was pulling. i spent probably a hour and a half yanking as hard a i could.
The FG mold finally came out.....pre-superbowl. Ummm yeah lets just say that I'm not happy. I started this project off right and dad-gummit I'm going to finish it right. I don't care how long it takes I feel that I have done too good of a job to hack it up now. I'm embarassed to say that my first attempt at fiberglassing turned out less than desirable. I am going to keep the mold but not use it right now. It needs more layers and a good bit of work to finish. It's probably not that bad but I don't have a warm fuzzy about it.
I started "Plan C" this afternoon and am pretty satisfied. "Plan C" will be somewhat stealth and easy to finish. I can use the box already built and integrate the "false floor" as well.
I knew that this project would be tedious and ever evolving but I also expected to be finished by now. This is why I will give in and move on.
Enter typical consumer: I want the sound I paid for now. More to come.....

No.....it did not break. I spent most of the week thinking about what I was going to do. I was a little frustrated after my first fiberglass experience. At first I caved and leaned toward a different route. After some thought I decided to stick to my guns and finish the false floor and my original design. The good news, after inspecting the mold, is that I can use a good part (the only part of the mold that turned out strong) of the mold and build a box around that.
I have come to the conclusion that the sub will not be cetnered as I expected. Most of you know that our (P5) spare tire wheel well is off centered to the left.....wich causes havoc building a false floor. It wont be that big of a deal as I laid it out and it looks pretty good. Sorry for the delay, I will keep you guys posted. I am excited to finish.....trust me.

I did have to cut a new false floor and box to make it work. Heh....no problem. I got to thinking....hmmm here I am a design/mechanical engineer, surely there is a way to figure this out....stop thought. So I did some more head scratching and measuring and presto! The problem was (and listen up kidos this is important) I tried to rework and redo something that I knew wouldn't work in the first place. Wood is cheap and personal labor is free. I tried to make something out of nothing just b/c I didn't wan't to scrap what I had. Lesson learned! I tell ya, if a guy had nights and weekends available this project would have been a whole lot easier and been done a long time ago. Anyway enough talk. There is my update.
I can't provide pictures as I am at work. When I get home I only have 1 hour to tie up some loose ends on the project
