DashHawk feedback

Instant feedback on my new DH.

Lots of good info on this thing but, a few things I'd like that don't seem to be allowed:

Wish it would monitor boost air temps and not just intake air temps.

Knock retard and misfire. Can monitor timing advance but KR and misfire seems to be GM only.

I like the fuel pressure high display. I like the shift light feature. I like the MAP display but, wish it was in PSI, not Kpa (it doesn't change when you switch display to Imperial). I like the valet mode and datalogging features, though I haven't used them yet.

Might want to update your DH. To monitor boost air temp go to mazda/air/boost air temperature. Whats valet mode? I thought that was a AP thing. I pretty much monitor four parameters Spark Knock Retard (KR), Air Fuel Ratio from sensor (AFR), Boost/Vacuum, and Long Term Fuel Trim B1 (LTFT).

Oh I think I know what happen you did not see mazda because it's located at the very bottom. You have to scroll down to it when choosing parameters . I missed it to when I first got my DH lol.

So BAT's on that list with all the GM s*** somewhere? I'll look again.

Knock retard seems limited to GM only on the DH, as delivered. The little "unsupported" cross is next to it.

My DH is version 2.03, gen 2. Is that the latest? I ask because the DVD-RW on my computer just cratered so I can't load the software just yet.

Valet mode on the gen 2 lets you set a variety of parameters to monitor, like engine speed, etc. and alert you if the values are exceeded, I think.

Latest version(and last) is 2.52 so this is why you aren't seeing the Mazda specific PIDs. Also just go to http://www.dashhawk.com and download the lastest software there, no cd/dvd needed.

I haven't checked out the valet mode before so I will have to look into it.

Thank you, thank you, I need to get this set up before Friday's track day....

I want BAT, spark retard, IAT, AFR particularly, for track day.

(nana) Yeah I know my ltft are a bit high whatever lol

Actually they are a bit low but thats not bad (below 0 means its running a bit rich, so its taking in your case 8.6% of the fuel away). Better rich than lean.

Doh! of course the minus. When I see great numbers (7 and over) I call them high haha. It gets better when i'm moving like around -3.6 to -5.5%. At idle is always different -7.0 to -10.0% today I saw -11.0%. I guess it depends how car is feeling that day.

Man, now my DH is setup with latest version, it has everything I want and the epic shift light feature, too.

I'm not usually a fycking cheerleader but, everybody, just get it. If you just want to log and monitor, this is the shiznit...and, make sure you buy it from PG, too, thanks, Ken.

word. good its working. Its one of the best things you can get, except now you will live and die by the KR and constantly seeing it at part throttle

LOL. I can see the car is reluctant to move off stoich under high load, like when you WOT the gas from a low rpm in a high gear, just when you want to drown the engine in fuel a bit to keep it alive. Hmmm, maybe that's why some guy's engines blow up PT.

Fuel pressure ~1600 psi under load, that looks good, as far as I know. BATs and IATs change with condition, KR shows not present under the brief run around the block conditions on this cool night.

I'm going to the track on Friday and now I can do it with renewed confidence that all is actually well under the hood, not just hoping it is. That alone is worth the money.

excuse me but, I have to jack off about the DH again....(wink)

I was able to run datalogs at the track and review them there and at home. This is awesome and very valuable info. I also did some "unscheduled" runs on the backroads coming home and was able to learn alot about shift points and effects of various techniques.

BTW. the WOT table is stupid rich on my car, like 10:1 rich. I need another flow mod to lean this out some...test pipe, here I come....

ya my car ran 9's stock up top, but 13's at spool where all the timing is at lol thats why everyone blows PT. s**** all backwards. I just hurried up and tuned my car once i got a DH so it looks nice hahaha

The freakin' thing barely comes off stoich even at or, anything under WOT. You can put the car in 4th at 2000 rpm, open the gas fully and the car will sit at ~14.5:1 for ages before fattening up. This is precisely when you'd want to be drowning the engine in fuel a tiny bit, for safety's sake; the load on the engine is massive like that. Not so hot for Mr. Catalytic Converter if you do dump alot of gas in it but, bloody hard on the rotating assembly if you don't.
