Darkstar Motorsports Turbo Inlet Pipe

hacksaw blade? lol wtf? I just had my Injen CAI installed and am definitely not interested in chopping it...

damn... I was really hoping this intall would be on the easy side. looks like I'm gonna have to pay a shop to do it... further increasing the overall cost and thus raising my expectations on how well this thing must perform (in order for it to be worth the cost) I'm thinking the fact taht I haven't received it yet is a blessing in disguise. Time to cancel and get a refund...

If you were part of the group by, which it sounds as though you were, I don't think a refund would be an option at this point (the purpose of the group buy is to lock everyone's money in so the price of the unit can be lowered).
If you had to have a shop install your CAI (sounds as though you did), you will definitely need one to install this for you.
Anyways, do what you gotta do man. I am sure someone in the classifieds will take it off of your hands for a minimal loss.

Nice, I can't wait to get mine.

Off topic: lol, I made that image! Did you get it on the subaru boards (NASIOC)?

I have the same TIP, ******************* was great with customer service. The part for me fit O.K. Personally I find that most aftermarket parts don't fit like the manufacturers state in their websites. Nothing is perfect, there is always some tweaking involved. I don't think the pricing for these units is right. Close to $200. is a bit much IMO. So, for the $99. I spent, I'm happy with the results... it's a very subtle mod.

lol, no actually I got it off of teamzx2.com forums. I use to be a member there. Still hung around and helped people with car problems. Then a big forum battle broke out on how zx2s are better and faster (when modded) than MS3s, so I had to defend the ms3. Long story short, someone posted that image to make fun of ms3s, so I took it and put it in a signature haha.

I almost jumped in on the GP Dark Star had for the Medieval inlet on the other forum. I decided to wait for the CPE. It is a tight fit, but looks really good.

This is a beautiful inlet and at an affordable price! People do have to realize that the inlet isnt a simply 30 minute install. These things are a pain to install and you have to remove the battery and box as well.

I spent nearly 2 hours with my install, cut the crap out of my hands, my back was killing me for leaning over, and I ended up breaking the vac to boost silinoid piece and had to rig it up. Don;t start this mod before daylight is about to end!

One thing that always helped me with small vac lines and plastic nipples (like our boost solenoid connection) is just take a small flat head screwdriver and pry up gently on the bottom of the vac line as you are pulling it off of the boost solenoid.

Do you need a 45 degree coupler for it, because when i look at other inlets they seem to curve to be facing straight, and not up into the air. Oh well, i just ordered an extra coupler just in case, at least it might look cleaner even if it was unnecessary.(scratch)

Well as an update - I ended up filing a dispute on PayPal for non-delivery. I payed for the inlet pipe on Jan 15th! Its nuts folks! Just got damn tired of waiting and waiting... Oh well its over now - a full refund was issued today - no questions asked. I know I won't be ordering another inlet pipe from Dark Star. I might just get an intake and be happy. :) Are dealerships cool with an after market intake? Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with this. Thanks folks!

Ahhhh no they are not. Mine isn't anyway. I had a CEL from a tank of bad gas or something and they actually said they would look at it IF I put the stock airbox back on....Mazda is pretty hard assesd about messing with this car. Good deal getting your $ back. I had a good experience ordering from them but at least you got it taken care of. If you want a less expensive intake/inlet try Corksport or COBB

+1

I was sick and outside in the cold doing mine....needless to say I was miserable and on a warpath when I finished.

I ordered mine around the same time. Though it might've been written somewhere, I don't recall reading anything about having to wait a month+ to get it. If it was, then it's my fault for placing the order. If it wasn't... then that much should have been communicated. It's all about setting the right expectations.

As far as your case goes... I'm curious as to whether or not you had any communication with Darkstar before filing for a refund. Up until recently, he's been very good with getting back to me... albeit, with very little good news to report. Even still, because I don't feel 'ignored' I'm hangin in there in hopes that I get this thing sometime before the 4th of July. Based on how much of a hassle this thing appears to be to install, I'm probably going to regret it. But at least it's a good price. I could always take the money I saved and pay some shop to install it.

As for intakes... I'm personally not noticing a dramatic gain from my Injen. Increases the sound more than anything. No regrets though... As for dealerships... mixed bag. Mine had no issue with it recently but I'm sure many others would. Just gotta take your chances and see.

Here's a couple more shots of the final install/Medieval inlet pipe for anyone interested...

And your Still not an AV.
I love how you said you were getting it Squared away.
Right.

I simply think it was you blowing smoke saying you were "Getting it Squared Away" while you had your BLow-out sales.
That in my Eyes is a Dis-honest practice no matter how you spin it.

I bet you would like to keep things like that private and In PM's.

I dont Care what you do....But I still think you are connected with Medievil who is Connected with MAM who was Run By Beau Who ripped a lot of members of this community off for Thousands of dollars.

You can Dispute it all you want....But it seems you pulled some of the same ol' tactics when you AV expired to buy yourself a bit more time here.

Just my shiny Nickels worth.

My "Blow-Out Sales" were over before my AV status expired. I stopped receiving payments through PM's once I confirmed it was expired.

If a customer buys a product from our site, and post their review about our product on this forum. That doesn't mean is was sold through this venue.

I'm a vendor with Medieval, I purchase orders in bulk and have them all shipped to me from Utah where they're located. If you have a problem with MAM and Beau, you need to go directly to them. Like I have told you in the past.

Like I offered previously, give me a call and we can talk one on one to clear things up.

It's seems no one wants to take action to actually try to contact us to see that we are just a vendor for Medieval. They rather just make assumption.

But any how, here's my personal cell phones number again; 619-219-0685.

Back to the topic; another batch of inlets were shipped yesterday.
