Has anybody managed to disable the speed limiter yet? I'm sure that when the ECU's and chips start coming out, they'll take care of it, but I'd love to hear of a solution for right now instead of next year sometime.

ummmmmmm... ok, let me re-phrase that. AS FAR AS I KNOW, the Altima, the Camry, the Accord, The GS300, the Passat, the BMW 3 series, etc. are all capable of speeds in excess of 120mph. Do they have speed limiters? Maybe, but (and I could be wrong) I don't believe that any of them are limited to such a paltry speed as the 6 is. Please correct me if i'm wrong. For some strange reason, I'm guessing that they all can reach 140 mph or better. Without the limiter, I KNOW that my blue streak could get 140mph and then some.pluto316 said:What the HELL are you talking about? Tell me another car in this class that doesn't have a speed limiter. Come on, I dare you.
The Protege may be drag limited, I don't know,. Even if the 6 IS drag limited(doubtful), that's fine, but I can't stand being shutdown electronically. The 6 shuts down the fuel delivery @ exactly 120 mph, it feels like you lifted off the throttle even though it's still floored. This isn't even at redline in 4th gear...around 5800-6000 rpm, as I recall. Maybe I'll try it again today so that I can provide a more exact rpm, just in the name of science, of courseMicah said:I thought protege's were drag limited.
ok, the Camry is limited @120, any others?. Maybe later I'll check Car & Driver's page or Motor Trend's or something and see what they say. Usually they have a test results page for all the cars they tried out. If all those others are limited @ 120, then I'll certainly feel alot better about it, but until I have proof, I'm still gonna pout (pissed)Zooooooooooom said:Last time i checked, my dads Camry was speed limited at 120 too...
