CX9 NAV system

Wow, after reading all these comments I no longer wish my 9 came with the nav screen.

Another though in the issue is that in a few years, as technology and Garmin type units get better and better, the cars with built-in units will be stuck with old, less-advanced units whereas someone like me can just spend another $200 and get the latest uber-advanced garmin

You can also buy an after market unit for the CX9!.... See other threads.
After having used the system for a few months now, I am starting to appreciate some of its features. It's not the greatest system, but it gives a nice touch to the interior.

RGN, you can adjust the map to display north at all times instead of the turn by turn. I don't know how to do it off the top of my head, but I think it's in the menu options somewhere.

For those of you having portable GPS units, I hope you mount them securely. In an event of a crash, they won't become "flying objects" in the passenger cabins.
Personally, I haven't seen a GPS mounting method that is secured enough to make me feel comfortable.

NAV in new CX-9

After reading the reviews of the NAV system prior to getting my CX-9...i am surprisingly rather pleased with it. I think the integration of the bluetooth, nav, stereo and satelite works very well and got all of it to work with hardly any help from the book.

Maybe it is because you have the 2009 model.
07 and 08 did have some issues integrating with aux/sat-radio. Also, the resolution of the screen is better than that of 07/08 in addition to better GUI (graphic user interface).
I won't be surprised if the 2010 model has the HDD-based NAVI system because newer Toyota models have them, and Mazda seems to share NAVI with Toyota.
