CX7 Poll

Hello All,

I thought it would be interesting to conduct a poll of CX7 owners whose cars have over 60k without any of the serious issues that seem to plague the earlier models (ie. A/C, belt tensioner, timing chain, smoking turbo etc).

I am sure that many such as myself are concerned about the car being able to make it to 100,000 miles with minimal problems. Personally I am re-thinking my long term plans with my 2007, only 27k and a new turbo which thankfully was covered under the warranty.

Thoughts and comments welcome

I own a 2007 CX7 Sport AWD and up until recently thought I had made a good purchase. I have 58K miles and haven't had any serious issues with the car until lately. I just got it out of the shop for a CEL that came on due to a clogged EGR valve. The part itself cost between $331 and $450 depending on where you buy it. The total cost with labor if I had it done at the dealer would have been around $900. I am planning on buying the part online at mazdapartscenter.com which is the cheapest I can find and that is $331, then install it myself.
But I have been researching the reliability of the 2007 models and the information I find is not very encouraging towards keeping the car long term. When my wife and I bought the car in Feb of 2007 we intending on keeping it for a long time. I have owned three other Mazda vehicles in the past, a 1984 B2000 pickup, a 1987 B2300 pickup and a 1996 MX3. I drove all of those vehicle to well over 100K miles and had no problems at all, so I figured the CX7 would give me the same quality and reliability I had come to expect from Mazda. But after reading some of the horror stories about what people have been through with their CX7's, especially with so few miles on them I feel fortunate to have made it to 58K. I will be look to trade or sale the vehicle soon.

I have nearly 72K miles on my '08 CX7. About 20K miles ago the fan motor for the HVAC unit went out. That is the only problem I've had.

The check engine light comes on every couple of weeks, but goes off with in a 1/2 day.

I'd buy one all over again if I lost mine!
