Cx5 doesn't want to move forward after reversing

I believe this is called hill start assist in many vehicles, not sure what Mazda calls it. The vehicle keeps brake pressure for a second or so to keep the car from rolling back while getting your foot from the brake pedal to the gas pedal. This comes standard in many vehicles nowadays.

I haven't yet run into this issue as there are not that many steep hill in my area ut the information you provided is helpful.

I know my Sport with manual transmission has the hill assist but didn't know that automatics might have it also. On another forum, CX-SV said the users manual mentions it is for the automatic also. If you have an automatic tranny, can you confirm your manual says below?

Hill Launch Assist (HLA) This feature helps assist CX-5 drivers when accelerating the vehicle from a stop while on a hill or slope. When the brake pedal is released and the accelerator pedal is pressed, HLA prevents the vehicle from rolling forward or backward. It operates on a downward slope when the shift lever is in the reverse (R) position and on an upward slope when the shift lever is in a position other than the reverse (R) position. The HLA system will hold the vehicle for a maximum of 2.0 seconds while the driver is changing from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal. HLA is standard on both automatic and manual transmission CX-5 models.

I've purchased 5 new cars in the past.
2004 Lexus IS300
2006 Impreza
2007 WRX
2008 Honda Fit
2009 WRX STI

Out of all these new cars only had one problem with the 2006 Impreza with a rattle noice all the other cars were flawless.
The idle problem is not correct the dealer fixed this issue for me they switched out theh spark plugs -- if you have an extremely rough idle on start up get it looked at as your engine is not running correct. Dealer here noted it as being a problem with a lot of the 2013 they see.
I do like the vehicle just not impressed with the amout of issues. The creak rattle we are experiencing is the worst I've heard out any car I've owned and I've owned approx 30 cars so of them were 10-15 years old. My toy summer ride is a 2001 Honda S2000 and it does not have a single problem.

As for the problem mentioned in this post I remedied by giving the car its self an oppurtunity to engage the gears. I place it in drive and don't press the gas pedal until it goes on it's own. Seems to be working great now.

But the safety issue comes in when you have to reverse onto a busy street to get out of a drive-way or something, then when you shift it into Drive and hit the gas it'll just rev for a second and then lurch forward into first....i know its not but similar to "launch control"
