cx racing fmic

Looks solid. Uses the shorter piping route, only thing I dislike is that I feel like it'll be tight getting the hotpipe good clearance where it's routed up front, but I'm sure it's been tested and has no issues, and the protege garage kit uses the same piping route I believe. I like the bracket they use for the core, it's not going anywhere, and the flange for the BOV is nice because it's more flexible than the competitors offering 2 mounting solutions. As far as they say there's not any cutting needed, if it's like the Cobb unit you may have to move the power steering lines up front but you don't need to disconnect them if so so it's no big deal. Any FMIC is going to perform better than our crappy stock TMIC ever did, so if you want to pull the trigger on this deal, go for it, there's no reason not to.
 
I would get the Cobb v2 kit if it didn't cost so much more, but I think I'm gonna go ahead and go with this one. And the shorter piping route is definately a good thing because I don't want to get too much pressure drop or turbo lag as I will probably not be getting any kind of tuning or ap or anything for a while
 
There's zero pressure drop or lag issues with this kit, on the stock turbo. I'm using this core, with PG's piping kit, which has runs and bends very similar to this. No issues. The quality of this piping is better than the PG, even though I haven't had any issues with mine.
 
You won't get noticeable pressure drop or lag with even the Cobb unit, but the shorter piping is a plus.
 
Just wondering if anyone did end up getting the CX racing kit? I have been eyeing it up myself just wondering if anyone has any pictures or comments about the kit. I am particularly interested in the quality of CX racing's cores. Anyone have first hand experience?
 
Several guys on here have it and have sad nothing but good things. It's basically the same exact thing as the PG kit which I have, no issues at all.
 
I just got my cxracing kit last week and I have to say the quality of all the piping and the core looks amazing! From what I've heard it is the same as the pg kit as far as the piping route, but in comparison to pics I've seen of the pg kit and from what I've heard, the quality of the cx kit is a little better and fits better. And the cx kit also comes with a bpv. I will post my performance results as soon as I get it installed.
 
Also got 2 items for my buddies from overhere. The seller is 'relentless_performance' and it has a little bit cheaper prices.
Everything what is said above is true. Quality is better then PG, BPV flange is also better oriented and tapered for Greddys and stock flange. Brackets included are also nice. Clamps are T-Bolts, so no problems, every pipe end is rolled.
Cores look very solid also, we got some of them previously for customs fmics.
Can't say nothing bad. Only good impressions. The best value for the money by all means.

I ordered a FMIC kit from CX Racing and recieved it just the other day and it looks awesome (haven't installed it yet though). Just wondering if anyone has used the stock BPV on this kit? I am using the COBB accessport tuner and on the MAP notes it says to use the stock BPV only. Doe anyone have any experience with or know if you can get away with using the COBB maps with an aftermarket BPV such as the one that comes with the CX Racing FMIC kit or should I just stick with the stock BPV? Are there any performance issues with using either the stock BPV or the aftermarket BPV with this FMIC kit and the COBB maps?
 
You shouldn't run into any issues as long as the valve is recirculated.
 
the bpv must also be tuned so it doesnt leak. that is why cobb says that because they can only guarentee through testing of stock, that the ap will behave the way they want. i use a greddy rs bpv and have no problems just make sure its tuned correctly.
 
Ok, so I finally got around to installing this thing.

Mark from SU was kind enough to take the time to help me with the install as well as provide a place to do the work(his garage) since I live in an apartment complex.

Only problem we had really with the kit, was they only sent me two mounting brackets for the core instead of four. If you look at the last three pictures you'll see what im talking about. So what we did was just put one on the upper left and one in the lower right of the core and it should hold just fine like that untill I can get ahold of the people I bought it from and have them send me two more brackets. Im not too worried about it though, because the core is pretty snug in there as it is even with just the two brackets it seems fine. One more minor issue we had was that one of the t-bolt clamps that came with the kit was a bit too small so we just used one of the clamps from the stock boost tubes in its place. Other than that, all the piping fit perfect. And no cutting, or moving of the powerstearing lines whatsoever. Whoever designed this kit definately put some time into it and did it right. The bpv that comes with it is a greddy knock-off and sounds pretty good. A little stockish sounding but a bit louder. The stock bpv will also fit with this kit if you deside to just stay with that. it also comes with a black vacuum tube for the bpv because the stock one wont fit with the smaller vacuum nipple, but Mark had an extra blue one laying around so we just threw that on there. the entire install took us about 3 1/2 hours. We probably would have been done a lot quicker if Mark didnt keep loosing tools and droping screws and sockets into the engine bay, lol. I have to give him all the credit though cause he did most of the work. Those guys over at SU definately know their s*** when it comes to these cars. He even said that he is gonna start recomending this kit to people even though they dont sell it at SU.

As far as the performance, it feels amazing! Seems to pull a lot harder up top. I'm sure once I get a Hypertech or some kind of tuning, I will get even more out of it.

If anyone looking into this kit has any questions, just holler!
 
Let me know if you run into any issues down the road. I'd be interested for around $500. But not for Anything more.
 
Its funny you mention they only sent you 2 brackets instead of four. The exact same thing happened to me. I wrote them an email but they are yet to get back to me. The nice thing though is that I have one of each type of bracket so if I have to I can make some new ones out of some aluminum I used to make a bracket for my catch can.

Also, did you receive 2 brackets that weren't pictured in the add for this kit? I don't know what they are for. Maybe they don't even belong to this kit. I have yet to start the install.... just thought you might know.

Now that you mention it, we did have some extra parts laying around after the install was done that I couldn't figure out what they were for, lol. Another strange thing was that when I first got the kit, it looked like someone had written on the side of the box with a magic marker "wrx 0204" which I assumed obviously it ment wrx 2002-2004. So I was a little worried at first that they had sent me the wrong kit. But after opening up the box and looking at all the piping it seemed to check out.
 
Haha that's good to know I couldn't really think of where these other brackets would have gone. I still haven't heard back from Cx Racing yet about my missing brackets (its been about a week). Have they got back to you? I am going to write them another message today and if they don't get back to me I won't give them 5 out of 5 stars on their feedback. Not the biggest deal in the world as I can make some on my own but it just says something about their customer service. For now I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they never received my message.
 
I never even got around to trying to contact them. I made it work with only the 2 brackets so I'm not too worried about it. But I think someone definately needs to let them know that they might be sending these kits out to multiple customers with parts missing.
 
I got in contact with them and told them that there were others with the same problem. Probably will just build my own brackets though. Seems like too big of a hassle to get them sent from CX Racing and will take longer than I want. Also I imagine I will have to pay shipping which would be more than having to buy metal to make the brackets plus I have some lying around anyway.
