CX-9 2021 GT - Coil Plug bolt snapped

I changed my spark plugs, and on the last coil pack I must have cross threaded. The bolt snapped off. I have tried vice grips, extracting. Also taken to Pep Boys already, however they couldn’t do anything. It’s at a more reliable mechanic right now, but if they can’t get it - is it safe to drive? The coil pack fits down nicely with the spark plug it’s just the singular bolt that holds it in place is broken.

Another member had the same thing happen I believe. Here's their temporary solution that is holding them over until they can get it properly repaired.

....and it's still holding strong! Lol
Never had an issue, I just let it be.

Hole punch
Drill a pilot hole
Spray penetrating oil
Use an extractor bit
Retap the threads
Yup, I was able to do extractions but I'm not sure based on the cheap set that I have, based on the area that it's in. It's not torqued much but I decided to just leave it be since it's fine. My anxiety was able to move onto other things 😂

I'm embarrassed to say I slightly cross threaded that bolt myself when I did my spark plugs... Kinda good to know this bolt is cursed and it's not me lol

Same thing happen to me around 60,000. I just added some gasket maker around the spark plug coil boot and it's been holding ever since. Just had the spark plugs replaced a second time and did the exact thing. Working like a charm

It sure is... I'm thinking the techs do this service enough to know that by now...
