CX-70 Diesel option?

I’m assuming the Mazda 6 cylinder Diesel engine option is not going to be available in the USA?

The German review (on YouTube- Autogeful) of the CX-60 mentioned that the Diesel engine was able to achieve ballpark 40 mpg real world driving.

I’ll be planning for the straight 6 cylinder ”petrol” CX-70 model when it comes out In the US, assuming the Diesel isn’t an option.

It is very unlikely the diesel would come to the US. Mazda tried with diesel CX-5 and it wasn’t a success and they stopped offering it. I think that ship has sailed for the US and Canada.

Diesel will die here in the US. Solution regulations only get tighter and tighter as we head toward 2030. Cars/SUVS/Pickups will be required to get way higher MPGs as time goes on. I predict more hybrids and plugin hybrids to help get those numbers up. Diesel won't be able to compete anymore here.
