cx-7 wind deflector

I'm going to get a cx7 shortly and is it worth it to get the sunroof wind deflector?

I like it cause it looks cool, besides, it was free.

FYI: Dealership cost is only $40.

My dealer has them on all sunroof models. Ours has it, and it keeps the noise down when it is open.

What I was concerned about was whether it worked or not and if it cut down on noise?

I do think the bug deflectors are not very good looking on them. Saw one with it, and not impressed. Will wait for aftermarket to make a nicer lookingone that does not look like it came off a 76 F100.

Hey Raider, have you driven a CX7 without the sunroof wind deflector? You mentioned it was on all of the ones at your dealership AND that it kept noise down. I was wondering how you determined that it kept noise down if all the vehicles had it.

He probably ment when driving with the sunroof open. It does keep the noise down.:)

We drove a sunroofless one, and the one we bought. Did not notice a sound issue with it shut, really quiet. But with the sunroof open, the deflector does a good job. I have had old sunroof cars in the past, and there is indeed less wind noise.

This car is my daily commuter, so I opt to not have any deflectors or roof-racks just to decrease as much *drag* as possible for my 40-min highway commute.

If it was stop-n-go traffic for me, then it wouldn't matter, but the time I drive, I get to do about 60mph-80mph on the highway all the way to work (37 miles). If it even saves me a miniscule fraction of my fuel costs, I'm happy without any additional air disturbances.

Besides... I may be a minority on this topic, but I don't really like the look of deflectors, bras, spoilers, etc.

On an unrelated question (which I may start as new topic)... have any of you found a "sweet-spot" for fuel economy...? My last vehicle got its best efficiency at around 68mph-72mph. At that speed, my RPMs were just around 2k in a 6-cyl.
