If you haven't lost interest already, it's a royal pain to swap out. You have to remove a ton of screws and clips on the bumper AND THEN two metal rivets to swap it out.

Hi @frotasticben, I'm looking to do the same to my cx-5. However, I could not figure out how to remove the top bit above the grille. Are you able to provide some instructions? Thanks in advance!

The rivets and screws I outlined in the picture all need to be removed, you will also have to remove all the pop rivets on the splash guard under the car, about half on each wheel well, and two screws holding it in place under the fender lining.
Hopefully that helps, a lot of it was just hunt and peck until I found the screws/ rivets holding things together.

Thanks very much for the response @frotasticben. I have removed the whole front bumper as you indicated above and removed the chrome piece. But I still could not remove the grill, as it is still attached to "A". I believe there are some screws hiding underneath A as I indicated by the arrows? That's why I'm under the impression I have to separate A from the grill mesh.

Even I've removed all rivets as you pointed out plus 2 under B. I still could not separate A from the grill? Maybe I need to give it a good pull? I want to confirm with someone who has done so, before I damage it. :)

There are 4 smaller rivets that need to be removed, after that it should come right off. I added arrows to point out the exact locations.

Here's a video for the Gen 1 bumper, the procedure is fairly similar.

If they are just pop rivets, drill out the center and pry /pull off the flanged portion. Pop rivets are soft steel.

You guys are awesome! I've removed those metal rivets and anything I can remove. However the peice seems to be held together by something. I have loosen all the clips that I can see, still no luck on taking it off. This is the only thing stopping me to put on the new grill. Very frustrating!

Any other suggestions guys?
