CX-5 Unlocking issue...Any ideas?

Hi, new to this and the cx-5. Unable to unlock car door with key fob. Key fob will open hatch, flash indicators and lock, the only thing it doesn’t do is unlock the doors even though it will flash the indicators.

Any ideas?

More info helps.
which door? Both doors?
Can you start the engine?

Door not unlocking is drivers door
Car start engine and fob still controls the alarm, locking and the hatch.

Have you tried a key in the drivers door? Does the key unlock the drivers door?

What happens when you press unlock twice on the fob? Do all doors unlock except the drivers?

I would start by replacing the fob battery unless you have replaced it in the last 12 months. It could be a weak signal.

FWIW, I'm replacing key fobs and other remote batteries in my life on January 2 every year rather than wait for them to start going out.

Good Luck

Since it's 2020 I assume you bought it used. Did the fob ever unlock the drivers door or is this something new?
What about the button on the armrest, I assume it locks it, does it unlock it?

Could be a defective door lock actuator in the driver's side door. You may have to take it to a shop if you're not familiar removing door trim and doing your own troubleshooting; if so, go to a Mazda dealer or a shop specializing in auto electrical work.

Do you hear a beep when you attempt to unlock the driver's door?
If yes, and the door is not unlocking, then, it could be the lock actuator.
If no, it could be the smartKey sensor inside the door failed.
(there are smartKey sensors in both front doors, the hatch and inside cabin for starting engine)
