CX-5 storage thread

what does everyone put in the little side containers on each side of the spare? not sure what could fit back there that would be useable. Maybe a knife, screwdriver and duck tape?

I put my trailer controller and fuse in one side and keep two tie down straps in the other for anything that goes on top.

Overall i am please with the space utilization. Coming from a truck, this was a concern of mine; but it is not anymore. My buddy has a journey and he has a few things i wish we did, but lets face it; our styling is miles ahead of that so i am good with it. I use a husky bag to store weights for working out and the center fits a protection tool nicely, but i wish we had under floor storage for concerts/games security storage. The journey fits the weights beneath the floor and his protection tool gets hidden under the seats in those storage options when we go to certain places.

I guess the only thing i really miss was the lockable under floor storage. We used it a lot for the ladies purse and the previously mentioned tool when we would go out to certain venues. Other than that, i have not had to borrow or rent anything yet for the tasks at hand.

Love the CX-5 and will continue to haul most day to day things without complaint as this thing looks to good to care

Went to the dealership to look at a CR-V, ended up with the CX-5. No comparison for me. 99% of the time, I wouldn't use the extra space anyways. Within a week, we had to buy something too big to fit into either one of them. CX-5 did great, with the exception of driving with the hatch open. Oh god, the beeping. WTF Mazda, do I really need 20 minutes of the most annoying noise ever to let me know the hatch is up? Tried tricking it by locking the latch but it still beeped. Very long drive.

Last time we tried to take a new Samsung 55" TV with our CX-5 from Costco but couldn't! We had to be standing in the parking lot with wind and cold waiting for wife went back getting our look-smaller 1998 Honda CR-V to load it home. Later when we picked up a Sony 65" TV at Fry's we learned the lesson taking our CR-V to load it again with no issues.

I agree, Honda Element is the best for space utilization, and we also appreciate many storage areas Honda has designed into, such as under-seat drawer、covered coin storage drawer、divided storage areas on door panels、2 covered side storage area in trunk floor、hidden storage compartment on rear door、and many others. And these're all on our very-old Honda CR-V. BTW, our CX-5 GT supposed to have special rear-seat mechanism to make it folding flat. But it's still not truely flat, and our CR-V with 20-year-old technology is still flatter than our CX-5.

Everybody knows space utilization and storage details are not strong points for Mazda. We already have a 20-year-old CR-V for better utility and it's very reliable. I can ignore storage part but for simple and efficient SkyActiv Technology without turbo and CVT.

LOL. No. Everyone does not know that. I'd say a majority in fact, do not.
Do you know where *Storage Space* ranks in the top 10 reasons people buy the cars they do? It's not...in the top 10. [emoji16]
A couple of sq ft is rarely going to impact 80% of people. And I'd say that's a low guess.

If a buyer is looking for storage space as a priority when shopping vehicles then neither the CX5 nor the CRV or RAV4 will be on their list. They will be shopping a different class of vehicles.

My previous car was a Wrangler. It has 12.8 cubic feet in the rear. That's not a misprint. It was more like a second glove compartment.

So compared to that? The CX-5 is cavernous.

Yep. I drove one as well and this is very true.

Hell, in the winter it had a sandbag in the back so it was even less room!
