CX-5 starter and electronics going haywire

I've had my CX-5 for about 9 months now, and suddenly ran into some kind of problem with my starter and electrical system.

Basically, I can't start the car. The first problem I ran into was all the electrical systems turning on, but only hearing a clicking sound when I press the starter button. I saw the rev meter and speedometer moving, and the car indicator lights flashing, but no engine start. After giving up and trying to start the car again after a few minutes, I then did not see any car indicator lights, only the airbag light flickering and the rev meter and speedometer moving, when I press starter. The airbag light continues to flicker, as though there is some kind of bad electrical connection or some kind of internal electronics failure. I can't even lock/unlock the doors with the key chain or the lock/unlock button on the doors.

Well I don't think this is a low battery problem because the car behavior is so weird. Has anyone run into this before? Fortunately I have a warranty.. I just hope I don't find out I accidentally screwed something up!

When I had low battery in my Mazda3, it's exactly what you describe.
Needles go up and down, lights flashing, clicking sounds., door locks not working, airbags, engine, everything lights/flicker.

Check your battery.

Modern cars with large electronic content , are VERY susceptible to weird operation with bad /low batteries. My other car is well known on it's fora for the exact same symptoms you describe. Charge the battery and try again. (Though if the battery got that low, you need to replace it. It'll be permanently damaged now.)

Actually, it is almost certainly the battery, based on your describtion, OP.

Actually something similar happen to me after 7 days of ownership. Nothing was left on, headlights were off. The car drove fine to my soccer game, 2 hours later I hopped back into the car, pushed the start button..nothing. Did that again and around 4 lights illuminated in the dash. Took the key out and put the transistor of the keyfob on the push button, pressed and more lights came on..but still no engine start. The difference between you and me was that the rev meter and the spedometer were not moving. I was quite upset but after 5 attempts, the car has started. All in all, this all happened in 30 seconds but I was not very happy. I read lots of this forum about battery drainage and didn't expect this so early..if it is indeed the battery.
We took delivery of the car with 25km on the dash. This happened after 7 days and 300km on the dash. Car started fine since, wifey has been driving this week and did not complain at all about it.

Hi all,

I measured the battery voltage and it read 11.96, so yes, you were all correct, it is the battery. I'm not sure how the battery fell this low but I must have left something on. I hope..

Thanks for the responses, and sorry for bothering you all. I was panicking. and i think i am so rational.
