CX-5 Grille Change

Hi Everyone,

As you know CX-9 and mazda 6 finally came out with a new grille style compared to CX-5. I really liked the new style more than the one that mazda selected for CX-5. I have been searching internet but couldn't find a vendor that is building these grills for CX-5.

Has anyone ever seen a CX-5 with CX-9/Mazda-6 kind of grills?

Nope, the new six has horizontal slats with the top slats being shiny piano black. I wish the CX-5 had the same , also the new 6 has a cover over the dead pedal that they somehow forgot for the CX-5

Actually CX-9 grills are almost like Mazda-6. For some reason after CX-5 commercialization they decided to change front grills with new Mazda's but did not change 2014 CX-5.

my pchop..the CX9 grill fit the CX5?

2014 Mazda 3 has the newer style grill also. I suspect the CX-5 grill choice was intentional to differentiate it from others in the line, but I too wonder if any of them are interchangeable. Proportions appear to be slightly different from model to model.

There's an aftermarket horizontal slit style grill for the CX-5 available. One of the well known Japanese companies. Duck Gardens if I recall correctly. Or KenStyle... Forgot. Search it up.

Now that we see CX-5 2016 is out, has anyone ever researched if 2016 CX-5 fron grille is compatible with the prior models? I really like the new look but don't have $$ to trade in.

That's not a grill; it's an entirely different front cap!

IMO, Mazda should have standardized the CX-5 grill with the rest of the product lineup (incl 3,6, CX-9 as pictured here). The 2016 grill is not an improvement over the original.

I assumed that was photo shopped. Maybe I'm wrong and it's the real deal. Maybe TampaMS3 will weigh in on that and let us know what was involved if it is a real swap!
