If you really care about stick, then you don't worry too much about tread life. I know I don't. To me, the grip of the tire is one of the most important things about a car, especially since it's the only thing that actually touches the road. I'd rather have maximum stick when I need it rather than slide into someone or something. But that's just me.

^^True i had them, Ventus V12, on my previous Speed 3 and they were a lot better then the stock Potenza.

They stick like crazy they dont wear too fast and they were not noisy at all. All the complete opposite of the stocker.

But i dont see the point of getting those for my CX5 anyway i dont think they make them for our size.

That's why I have used them on my Mercedes sports sedan. I have T1R's on my other car, also not a good tire for SUV.

On my AWD SUV they will have inadequate traction in snow and lack of durability (possibly inadequate load rating too). Wrong (and sizing) tire for vehicle in question here.

Mazda’s new CX-5 SUV is enjoying brisk sales in Japan, and Mazda can’t keep up with the demand. Waiting times of five months or longer were common, says The Nikkei [sub], especially for the top trim lines with fuel-saving diesel engines and leather seats. Mazda would love to deliver them a little faster – but it does not have enough tires.

Waiting times have been trimmed to three months, says the Tokyo wire, but Mazda is battling with problems procuring enough 19 inch tires. Mazda pretty much gave up on the idea and plans to offer the CX-5 with 17 inch rubber.

“New, 17-inch versions are expected to reach customers at least one month sooner,” the Nikkei says.

With 3,835 units sold In July, Mazda’s CX-5 ranked 29th on Japan’s best seller list, ten places ahead of Toyota’s hotly debated hachi-roku.

Hey everyone ... new here and this is my first post.

I just purchased a 2013 CX-5 GT in the Toronto area (Canada). Of course, the only one on the lot was the one the manager was driving. Turned that one down and I am currently waiting for mine to be built. It should be in the process of being built right now and arriving sometime in November. It's coming with the 19" wheels and they never mentioned any issues with supply. The only issues they seem to be having is keeping up with the demand for this vehicle. The GT I'm getting was actually scheduled to be delivered in western Canada bu my dealer basically stole it for me. LOL

I ordered mine on Aug 17th an was told to expect delivery in Oct. i received a call on Wed it had arrived and I picked it up yesterday. The dealer commented that they were shocked when it showed up given their previous wait time experience. I love my metro grey GT with Nav. and y it has 19" wheels.

Does a price reduction goes with the wheel downgrade?

When I ordered myine with 19" as standard if I wanted to swap for 17" it was, AND still is 785 to downgrade to 17" wheels. Whats that all about!

you are looking at 1500 extra for the 19's. i just bought it with the 17's and bought aftermarket 19's. XXR 518's machined black. with rubber, balanced and shipped 1450 to my door now i have a spare set, winters and a nice set

I have also recently ordered Sport Nav 4WD with 19" wheels. I was told 5 month wait list, so expect delivery in Jan next year. Hope this tyre issue will not affect me, as I like the 19's over the 17's in the large arches. Fingers crossed all those waiting (nailbyt)

Ask your dealer how many 19" tyres he has in stock. I bet its none.

I dont know much about car tyres, are 19" tyres that difficult to get hold of or do Mazda use a special type of tyre? Without a spare wheel, on UK spec'd cars, as a fallback this could be a big issue.

That's the whole truth! Mazda decided (for some bizarre reason) to opt for almost non-existant 225/55/R19 tire size, with even more rare 19x7J rims. I haven't seen ANY 19" wheel with 7J (inches) width. Common size would be 19x8J or 19x8.5J. No premium tire manufacturer produces 225/55/R19 while they ALL make 235/55/R19.

This decision is rather weird as CX-7 came with 19x8J wheels and with 235/55/R19 tires. So Mazda is kinda stuck with Toyo at the moment. God forbid, if you have to change your tire on CX-5 (you'll never find 225/55/R19), and as a result, you'll have to change all 4 if you want to put 235/55/R19 (same speed rotation).

To be even worse Mazda (at least in Vienna) doesn't stock tires at all. Not to mention that CX-7 came with high performance Bridgestone Dueller H/P Sport tire, while CX-5 comes with rather pathetic Proxes/Geolander tires. Nothing against Toyo/Yokohama, they do have much better tires in their lineup, this is strictly against Mazda's decision.

If your CX-5 comes with 17" rims, I would ask dealer to replace it on the spot with CX-7 tires! I assume you ordered with 19" wheels, nothing in the world would stop me from getting what I've ordered for. Well, that's just me.

To me the decision by Mazda to spec in the 19"x7" wheel with a 225/55/19 tire is not that strange (versus the typical 19x8, 235 tire). It's driven by the goal of high fuel efficiency. Less frontal area (aero), lower curb weight, less unsprung weight, less rolling resistance were the pluses achieved with the styling and handling benefits of 19's.
