CV Boot Clamp Tool

My boots are still in tact, but they are leaking at the ends and flinging axles grease everywhere. Rubber just tends to shrink over time out here in AZ.

I don't want to replace perfectly good axles because of such a minor problem, so I was thinking I could just tighten the clamps, but there seem to be about a half dozen different types of band clamps and associated tools. Not sure which one to buy.

I am actually not even sure they can be re-tightened. I've thought about just cutting them off and putting on hose clamps, but not sure I'd be able to cut them off without damaging the boot.

Anyone have any experience with these?

My car is doing the same thing on the driver's side. I replaced the clamp and it did not help. They do not require special tools just pliers and a hammer to secure them.

Yeah I actually put hose clamps on top of the band clamps and tightened the hell out of them, it seems to have slowed down, but that might just be because it is colder out.

Sucks that replacing them didn't fix it either. I guess I'll just live with it until they run out of grease and start clicking, then replace the axles.
