i have the b&m ss and i shortened it an additional inch. either way i still say it takes less time to shift. here is the scenario:
you have the standard like 12 inch (just say for demonstration purposes) shifter. its at an angle so lets just say that the angle leaves the end of the lever 12 inches up and 6 inches from the center of the shift "box" while in second gear.
now you have a 70ft high shifter and you are sitting on top of a building shifting (bear with me). on the 12 inch shifter its off by 6 inches (from being straight) due to the angle. however, on the 70ft high shifter the angle gets worse and worse and you are now a lot farther away. so you shorten the shifter no matter what its going to shorten your throw *a bit*.
here is another example. take two lines and draw them 1cm apart and a .1 percent angle from each other. now draw them for 10 miles and see how far apart they are. no picture that you can grab the end of each line and "shift" it. and youre telling me there is going to be no difference between "shifting" the line at the start point or ten miles down the road?
