cut springs...

anybody ever experiment or know of anyone that has cut their springs. What could be the downfall of doing this?
Pros?

Cons?

the car is lower

Cons -

unsafe
bouncy
terrible handling
unsafe


get some springs (tein, eibach, etc) and call it a day

Plus camber would probably need some serious adjusting/might not cut them all the exact same.

dont be a cheap ass. if u wanna mod ur car do it properly or dont do it at all.

cutting springs = rice....as stated get some springs or coilovers and do it right.

megan racing.......if you "need" them.

otherwise just save up and do it right with full coilovers or a good spring/shock combo

well seeing as he has an msp the tokico's are perfectly fine for drop springs. coilovers are always best bang for the buck but seeings as this guy was wanting to cut his springs my guess is he isnt going to spend 1000 bucks on suspension.

I did this back when I got my Protege in 2001. Handled ok but it will eventually blow your front shocks like it did to me and I only cut one coil. Like everyone here has stated, just save your money and do it right. Its worth it in the end.

thanks for all the input. i was only curious about this i was only half considering it. i know it cant be good to do but i figured id just see some more input. chances are im gonna save for some tein springs since they dont make the eibach sports anymore.

also what about the skunk2 or ground control, coilover sleeves? ive read a few threads but havent really found anything out.

dude get those ebay springs. they are sooooo awesome. and only like 70 bucks. you will be lowered 2 inchs!!!

if you dont want to spend a lot of money, consider maxspeed springs. supposedly they are rebadged h&r's.
