Custom turbo manifold interest?

Im going to be building a custom turbo manifold for the MSP. Im gauging interest in wether more people would like a stock replacement turbo manifold, or a top-mount turbo manifold for non-stock style turbos.

What i would like to hear are some of your interests in a manifold so i can design the best set-up for the MSP community.

Although im not "known" on this forum or in the MSP world. I have been building high powered cars for a while. Mainly Rotary powered cars. I am also a certified welder among many other things.

questions, comments, requests?

Plans are undeided as of right now. Thats why im looking for ideas from the people who would possibly be using them.

If its a stock replacement one, it would be a equal lengh bullhorn style.

Non-stock replacement would be a top-mount. meaning, instead of the turbo sitting down below. it would be sitting up much higher. possibly offering 3" downpipes to go with it with all the new found room top mount turbos give.

i know a few people have custom setups that shift the turbo a couple inches so they can run a full true 3" DP... many members (including myself) have expressed interest in an exhaust mani/downpipe combo that accomplished this.

OK, so i will definitly look into adding a 3" DP as a combo piece for this set-up.

the idea of a top mount has come up a few times, and its generally not well received.

Has anyone completed one, or has it just been talked about?

you should def try making a 3 in downpipe if your makin a non stock replacement and sell them as a set, that would be dope!
i wouldnt mind a top mount at all, so much more room

edit: you def read my mind

to my knowledge, no, one hasnt been made (edit: not mass produced anyways), but there was a thread by someone not as experienced with welding who pitched it, and it was a lukewarm response at best. personally, i see no need to relocate my turbo, but my mind can always be changed. how would the downpipe be routed, or is this something to be determined as the project continues?

dude. you have skills! mad skills...

anyways.. if you want this to go anywhere for us and for you, you need to make a stock replacement manifold, with the turbo moved over a few inches so you can put a 3" downpipe on the turbo w/out taking out ac/ps etc.

thats the idea you should run with. and you'll make money.

Id love a top mount and matching downpipe down the road when i upgrade turbos. subbing to see where this goes =)

I think the hi boost kit was a top mount turbo. I have a pic of the kit on my PC at home I'll post it up when I get home in the morning.
Anyways....
a direct replacement that shifts the turbo a few inches to the right so we can clear a true 3" dp will sell like hot cakes, esp a bullhorn design. Do a Mani and DP combo for under $700 and you'll sell a ton!!! and please do it soon I'm in need of a Mani this spring before my warranty expires. LOL

i dont think youll find anyone who would complain if you just moved it a couple inches, but i think youd hear some frustrations if you went top mount. most people who are looking to upgrade their EM are looking to do downpipe work anyways - if you kept it under 700 even if theyre uneven length runners youd get easily a dozen sales id say

My advice, just make one for yourself. 99% of the people that say they are interested won't buy one from you. There's a thread like this at least once a month...

100% of the threads like this once a month never make it into production.

Looks to be that the majority would like a stock replacement moved over a bit to clear a 3" downpipe. This is what i'll be designing then. It will be a manifold/downpipe combo. If the oil feed and return lines need to be changed, i'll look into adding those in along with the set-up. My goal is to make it a user friendly full bolt up set-up.

I have done things like this before. I know the percentage of people that say they will buy, is much higher than the people who actually will. Im not looking to get rich. I enjoy making products and putting my name out there.

This WILL be made as soon as possible. But i will not sacrifice design just to put a product out, to turn a profit.
