Custom Protege fuel rail

ill be getting more details about paying and when it will be ready, etc etc shortly.

How would this work if you already have, say a BEGI RRFPR in the fuel lines?

Would I have to add another fuel pressure regulator? Seems kind of dumb.

And I know the other answer would be, "Get rid of that damn RRFPR!"

But I can't right now, nor in the fore seeable future...

Thank you!

you should still need a diff fpr...the begi is still basically a fmu...im pretty sure im making sense here. what you will be replacing is that small piece right before the stock fuel rail.

wait....I thought that the BEGI had the benefit of ALSO setting the base Pressure.... the BEGI combines an FPR and the features of an FMU + complete adjustability of both..

....this is my understanding....I don't own one though...

i guess that could be correct, but it still hooks up just like a fmu (AFTER the fuel rail) and you still keep your stock FPR (shrug)

I would image that all he would need to do is mke sure he can connect the line that comes from the stock FPR ...directly into the new fuel rail...nothing that some adaptors can't fix....

toronto - yes the stock bell still needs replaced

style - should be two weeks or so!

MAtt- you are incorrect..

I just talked to Beau:

Don't worry you keep the FMU!!!! What you are replacing is the STOCK FPR that comes with the car. It resides onthe fuel rail itself. Beau is replacing this with an aeromotive regulator. But you can use any universal regulator.

When installing the new rail, since more gas will be "there and ready for use" the stock regulator won't work.

In my case and pretty much everyone who's boosted- we have two regulators

1.) The Stock regulator AND
2.) An aftermarket regulator (In my case the BEGI RRFPR)

Again.... It's the stock regulator that needs replaced.

Oh s***, sorry.. But yeah someone was confused back there so I thought I'd bold it and make sure everyone was on the same page. I guess not all knew that there is a stock regulator on the fuel rail.

np i will be putting this fuel rail on as well within a few weeks so pics are definately to come.

but yea, you did a much better job explaining it than i did :(

If things go right I'll have it on this Saturday. Luckily my Digicam still has batteries.

well i will be meeting beau at some point in Tuscon...maybe you could meet us there? ill be moving to AZ in less than a week.

and what if we dont yet have any other FPR beside the stock?...u still need to get 2 if u have the multi role FPR....??

no... Generally you will have an aftermarket FPR if you go turbo and don't have an engine managment system (mpi, ems, microtech, haultech, etc...) Forced induciton requires more fuel and fuel pressure which is where the aftermarket regulator comes in- it works inline with the stock one.

So, if you only have the stock one- then that's all that will need to be replaced. No worries.
