ok now i got an intake tube it conects to the mafs output and does a 90 degree bend down so with an air filter on it its about 8 inches above the splash gaurd ! now am i still losing hp or am i ok? or should i just go backto stock

thats what i am doing, i have had this scense i have had the car. it still gets hot air from the fan. but not as much, i would put the stock air box/drop in k&n filter, but my stock air box is gone :(

i dunno....wouldn't that put the filter right next to the engine? i'd say just put the stock air box back on and save up some money for the injen or any other intake out on the market. i was trying to see if i could build an intake for myself and keep the cost down, but i figured that if used an apexi filter, i'd end up running around $150 so why not just spend an extra 50 and get a proven cai.

I think you're on the right track. I would try to get it down into the fender well. There is a round hole right next to the radiator overflow catch bottle where you should be able to run your tubing.

I am planning on putting my own intake together. I got a K&N panel filter for the stock airbox. I want to run a tube to the hole I mentioned. I don't think that the airbox is a big problem. Heat is the major enemy. If you remember the stock intake, it has a bend to keep it away from the fan.

Anyway, since you already got rid of the airbox I say route it out of the engine bay and you should be no worse off than stock and probably better.

Unless you can dyno it, you'll have to rely on the 'butt-dyno' to tell if it is helping or hurting.

Keep us posted. Good Luck!

Where did it go? Is this a new problem with the MSP? Airboxes buggering off when you aren't looking? :D

ok well im gonna try to make it go into the front but if i cant am i still losing hp as much as i would if i just put a filter on the mafs?
