cussing on the forum

You guys *do* know that *most* message boards have an administrator option to automatically replace unwanted words with alternate versions...

Example:
**** = fARK
**** = Female Body Part
Ass = Donkey
s*** ****** = Ish effer
and so on.....

Yes, this is one of the only message boards I frequent that seems very lenient with cursing. I'm impartial to cursing on message boards, but it definitely looks trashy when all of the thread titles are plauged with them.

lmfao.. I remember when I had a message board for my bands website, I randomly left that option on and some guy whos band we beat out at a battle of the bands came and tried to cuss us out.. It was so incoherent after the message board altered it that he just looked stupid and left...

Cursing? eh??? no witchraft here.. just some cussing...

Exactly MazdaDan, I could care ******* less about a little mouthing offbut it's so out of hand it's ridiculous. I would've been banned in a second from AVSforum for half the crap I see (and say) on here

Yeah, the filters are funny on some of the sites, cause you can't say damn, but you can say **** and *****. I think a filter on here would hurt, as there is much appropriate swearing( i know, cause I'm responsible for my fair share)

word filters are ghey... the 1st ammendment stands.

Besides, the decent people on the boards will know who and who not to regard as contributing, responsible members by judging from the incoherence and unnecessarily foul language.

:)

If we swear??? really, we're all mature enough to know what the words mean, otherwise we wouldn't use them, right? There isn't too many folks that swear excessivly, but when they do, it's usually warrented.oh, BTW

As silly as this may sound when I first came here and read through a few threads I was surprised to see cussing in the threads. After a momentary surprise I was like "Hell yeah, sign me up!" I suppose that may sound a little juvenile and if so oh well. I came here from Mustang forums that were much too uptight. I enjoy this forum way more than any other that I have ever visited because it is so laid back.

Now there is all this talk of sigs being limited and too much cussing and members should be nicer to each other. Very disapointing. Cmon, we're all big kids here let's just keep the forums how they are.

yeah, the freedom is nice, allows us to express our inner children, which is very entertaining. It's kept in the right areas, so car talk, and nitter natter are seperated, so it's good. Please leave it the way it is.

Personally I like that there is the random cussing on these forums, I just made this thread to suggest something because some of the mods were getting all uptight about it at the time.

if the FCC says its ok to say **** on tv and radio, then it should be ok on here. so **** all the purists who think swearing is trashy. sometimes you feel so strongly that the only word to use to express your feelings is ****

****=most versatile word in our language

Censoring Thread titles is one thing...but the threads themselves which essentially make up the community? Free Speech is a good thing. Censoring can easily have a snow ball effect (read BAD).
