man, i gotta relocate my MAF. with it still on the intake, i get my filter rubbing on the coldside charge pipe since theres nothing to support the far end of the intake. I also notice that big 90 degree coupler coming off the turbo, mine doesn't have that, its just a small straight coupler and the pipe has 2 90 degree bends in it.
Yeah I was wondering about that too as even without the MAF my filter is resting against the inside of the headlight. Once I make a better bracket for the coolant bottle I should be able to adjust the intake pipe so it's further away from the light.

thats cause i did that. with the ghl downpipe and gt28rs, it comes WAY to close to the lower rad hose cause of the way that pipe is (the hot pipe and downpipe squeeze the hose) so i did that so you can have lots of adjustment.
Yeah I can see where it would be a good idea. I do have a question though - everyone here on the forums seems to think that using this elbow as the vac source for the wastegate actuator is a bad idea. Even the guy who helped a little with the instal was skeptical. Is there any real difference between using this elbow and another source like say the IM?

using the elbow as a source was NOT me lol.

i used the mani. i know people do it tho cause they sell the kits on ATP. i cant comment on wheather one way is better or not.

Ah, sorry. Yeah I might just end up getting another elbow (maybe red?) and just reroute the source up to the IM. Will that cause a problem seeing that it's already the source for my boost gauge and BPV?

Anyhow, the kits been running great - seems to hold around 7-8 psi but I haven't really pushed it too hard yet. I just haven't had the time or the space.

magnum, when the hell did the turbo install happen? i thought u still had some time still u installed yours? i musta got confused with the many others boosting their p5s

Looking good magum.
Thanks. It really will look a lot better when I get all my other stuff installed. I have a powdercoated black MSP heatshield sitting in my room because I don't have the bolts for it. I also have the WeaponR coolant overflow bottle, Mazdaspeed oil cap, JDM Mazdaspeed radiator cap and millenia pcv valve (ok so that one isn't for looks) on order from PG. :)

Yeah, I would have made an awesome build thread like Kansei and the other guys but I left my digital camera up at school and I couldn't seem to find another one. I did the entire install the week of Jan. 8 (the week before I went back to school). It only took me about 5 days (I was very organized) but then again I didn't replace the clutch or any of that. The pics I posted earlier were taken today when I finally had some time and the proper weather to run out and snap some shots.

Yeah, it seems like everyone is boosting their P5's now, doesn't it?

hows it running man? good, shakey? how easy or hard was the install?
It's actually running better than I had hoped! I don't know how much the relocated MAF had to do with it because I never ran it the other way but everything is perfectly smooth. I swear it's smoother than it was before because now when warmed up the idle sits at 750 RPM and does not move whereas before it seemed to bounce between 600 and 800. But yeah, it hasn't stalled on me yet and nothing has blown off so everything appears to be good.

The install actually wasn't too bad. The hardest parts were removing the old rusted parts and figuring out how to run the wires for the fans, wideband and O2 sensors. Those and the coolant and oil feed lines were hard because I was lazy and did now remove the intake manifold. My biggest advice to anyone attempting to do this is to be as organized as possible. I did the entire install in five days working 8-9 hours a day (on top of a fulltime job). I attribute this to the fact that the weekend before I spent both days getting everything out, labeling where things go, checking everything over, etc.

dude

you still didn't call me for help......wat's up with that?

Wow, just saw this now. Yeah sorry about that. I started organizing everything that Sunday and I guess my parents saw how much work I was going through 'cause they finally let me use the garage to do the work. I actually did all the teardown and hardware install myself. I just had on of my friends who's kind of an audio juky (and therefore knows a lot about electronics) help me out with the wires and whatnot. He actually had a lot of good ideas and is mainly responsible for how good the engine bay looks. But sorry about not calling - I ended up doing the work during the week staying up to about 11 PM - midnight and then getting up at 5:30 AM for work the next day. I just got so into trying to finish it before I had to leave I forgot like everything else. Hell, I didn't finish until Saturday night after working all day. I spent all day Sunday troubleshooting things (had some leaks and squeaks) and then I left Monday. Next time I'm back down there I'll be sure to stop by.
