Cruise Control Don't Work!!!

The Short Bus said:
cruise doesn't work over 100mph, so that should answer your question.

it does... I tried it today... it sets but it'll just act like you set it at 100mph, so the car slows down to 100mph and stays there

I have had problems with my cruise not working as well, even though the light is on, etc.

My fix:

I looked for the cable where it connects to the pedal, and sure enough, the cable had come loose. You just have to take the cable end (a round disc) and pull it back into place on the back of the pedal in its clip.

That did it for me...

My cruise stopped working too. Nothing would happen when I tried to set it. No indicator light or anything. I assumed the worst, then as I was about to check all the vacuum lines, etc... I realized there is an on/off switch on the bottom of the control. Click and it works again. I would have felt pretty stupid if I had pulled anything apart.

ok question for you guru's......had the ecu swapped out...never had a problem with the cruise before.....now nothing....all i hear is a click everytime i hit the on/off button coming from the floor of the passenger side around where the ecu....

any ideas?? i ask cause in 110 degree whether, you really just don't wanna spend an hour or 2 searching

There is a button on the side of it. Odds are you hit it in and it is off.

I know I've done the same thing...

Hahahahaha! I did that before. I actually clicked it when I was cleaning my car one day. Then I tried to use it and it didn't work. Then I was like what the eff? And I got it working again by pressing the same button you said to press. (nana)

(rofl)what's sad is that there's more than one person who didn't know there was an on/off switch.....

so anyone got any suggestions for me??

lol How long have you been driving without brake lights?

edit: ugh. just realized this was a thread resurrection. It's too early in the morning.

and 8 or 9am is too early.....i'm up at 230am cst to be at work at 4(shocked)(poke)

Here's my problem. Had the check engine light come on for the brake light switch, wiring or computer. Changed the blown fuse and it kept blowing. Changed the brake light switch...still on....unplugged and re-plugged in the tails and the 3rd brake light. It quit blowing fuses and so I reset the light by unplugging the battery.

NOW...the cruise won't work at all LOL.

I've never had any issue with it till the brake issue. Thoughts? The hose from the CC to the intake manifold is good and the module is still plugged in. I'm not sure how it could be the brake switch since its working right.

Could the computer need to be reset via an OBD2 scanner?

resetting it with battery cable off should be same as resetting with code reader from the ecu's standpoint.

the short probably fried the cruise control computer... you need to really check the tail lights wiring before you replace any parts... just unplugging/replugging doesn't really "fix' anything!

Sorry to bump an old thread but my cruise control just recently stopped working as well. I haven't used it in months but I removed my VTCS about a month ago and moved the CC out of the way for the intake removal and simply mounted it back up. But the other day I was on the highway and I went to trun it on and just hear a *click* over by the ECU when I turn the on/off button to the on position. I checked the little CC module and it looks okay to me. I checked the CC in the engine bay and the vacuum line and plug and they looked okay too. My cruise light doesn't light up and I don't think I have any brake lights out.

Any ideas?

ditto. Bought the car in January and the cruise doesn't work. Just a click but no light. Brake lights are all functional. Also someone has checked the cruise module before, the trim piece and harness clips are broken. Any ideas would be great. I still need to check for voltage at the cruise computer, we'll see how that goes.
